I’m itching to head south for some open roadsOur usual cafe was closed so we went a bit further to this pub and it was like something out the hills have eyes... We laughed alot and after walking through the dusty air in the dimly lit pub decided to ride a bit further
We managed to find a very expensive American burger restaurant so the lunch ended up being a kinda dinner at the same time but the girls were pretty and the milkshakes were good so we were happy
The blackbird wasn't as happy as our bikes pushing about the b roads and made that clear a few times but I said it before... Blimey that's quick above 100
Other than some big red marks from stones that managed to get me like a good'un a good day had
Roast dinner now and some motivation to give it a quick clean tomorrow

My record is 158 indicated on the Blade, although I was rev limiter in 3rd many times in portugal on it, which was about 144 on GPS, loaded up with luggage. 4th gear on Blade gives reliable 150mph wheelies, but it gets a bit dicey after that.
Cross winds are a killer, but main issue I find in 5th gear is any kind of slightly excessive roll off to manage height means not enough guts to bring the wheelie back up. Weaves or shimmies are scariest but generally I find it useful to land the wheelie a bit harder than normal at the big speeds so that the front wheel tucks/locks for less time whilst getting up to speed.
Only bikes I've got into top gear on rear are enduro bikes. In the end I could rev limiter in top the DRZ400, which felt like winning the game.
I've not tried the low tyre pressure trick, but guess it stops the shimmying!
I'm not good for high speed wheelies. I'll lift my ape in 3rd and that's about 70-90 it'll balance at that speed for ages. My mate on the mt10 can lift off the clutch at an indicated 115 but he's always accelerating through the gears and will drop it at 130-140 sometimes... Looks like an airplane when the front tyre touches the tarmac with the smokeCross winds are a killer, but main issue I find in 5th gear is any kind of slightly excessive roll off to manage height means not enough guts to bring the wheelie back up. Mx /enduro bikes are where its at. Can lift them in any gear at silly low speeds maybe 30-40 and get in the right position it'll go as long as your talent allows

Paul has been the only mate willing to sit right on my tail when getting a lick on, I may have gone faster than that but I never look at the speedo, having a false leg doesn't help not being able to cover the rear brake.Dunno if you use the rear brake. It gives me cold sweats now thinking what would happen if it goes wrong. (this came about after flipping a moto cross bike last year no gear or helmet on)
I still haven't wheelied my new R1 on road or track yet.

I'd be disappointed if you weren't.

I find it more predictable to tug it up than clutch it up. Clutches are pretty robust these days, but I worry more about output shaft bearings and chain stretch. Like you say though - bikes just take it these days it seems.
As for the new R1 - is that cos you haven't worked out how to turn off the anti-wheelie yet? These new fangled computer things can be tricky

I'm aching bad after a 160 mile ride today. Temps were just about OK at 8-9 degrees but heavy gritting last night meant white dry roads today. Definitely not big lean grip

This is my neck of the woods. I know of that pub, just north of Buntingford. I went in there once years ago, and know exactly what you mean.
