Cover it in XCP rust blocker = no more orangey bits, well no new ones anyway, I've just covered my bike in it but can't bring myself to ride it on salted roads as it still only has 1100 miles on the clock, its been 5 months since I put it away frown
Does it stay on in rainy sh**ty weather ok?

I'd used ACF but for some reason it doesn't seem to last long. I've pushed the f*** it button for now and got an old paintbrush and a pot of grease.

Ha! I worked for a company years ago that had an office along the Pacific Highway in North Sydney, just around the corner, which I did visit on a GSX-R as I wanted to do a spring time road trip and took the long way over the mountains, without taking leave, and expense it. wink
Ended up being a week long pissup with the Sydney team. Happy days beer
I did that journey the other way round, but in a Ford Falcon panel van with a 3 speed column shift gearbox. Probably not as much fun hehe

Agreed! The noise is great when on board but better when you hear it go past.

Trev if you're still around Dorset way let's meet up for a ride/meet this year if you like - username used to be Motorsport Tom and haven't seen you since I had my VFR750 and you came out on the blade!

Is the true lovers knot meet still going?

Would love one of these but doubt my body would cope with it these days.

It is bloody uncomfortable! If you're ever in the South Somerset area you're welcome to try it out for size and take it for a quick spin weather/insurance permitting thumbup

Went out yesterday for a very short trip to see if I'd fixed a high rpm issue on my bike that I wanted to sell

Couldn't find my neck tube thought I'd be ok for 5 mins

Turns out -5 windchill x higher speeds hurts even for a few minutes

Won't be doing that again, but problem solved and bike sold to new buyer with snow flakes coming down !

They're a great bike for sure! Did you see my response in the other thread about checking the oil level? Are you all sorted on that front?

Cheers yes, all seems good, the oil look quite fresh to hard to see in the tube but the level is good. Next job is to have a look at the suspension bearings.

Finish flaking off my cam covers at less than 6 months old. Apparently the warranty claim will be upheld, but post-Brexit issues are delaying parts supply.

Spot on! Pm if you need info or tips on the suspension bearing if you need info (presuming you mean the dog bone?) I did it a while back

That’s not ideal. Build quality seems to questionable on a lot of stuff lately. A local bike valeter put pics up of a 6 mount old HD he had just done, I could help but notice the level of corrosion that had already taken place at that age. Your engine already has more lifting than my 30 year old GSXR with 36k on !

Hope that sort it for you without too much hassle . Are you going to ACF50 it for future commutes in winter ?

Any context of the image? Seeing the bottom distance on a sign is mind boggling for me...think the most I've seen before is a few hundred!

I rode U.K. to Vladivostok on an xt600e at the time there was little proper road between Chita and Khabarovsk known as the Zilov gap.. It took 5 days to cover that bit. The long distance on the sign is to Khabarovsk. From Vladivostok I got a ferry to South Korea and road across Korea to Incheon and put the bike on a Ro Ro car ferry to Southampton with all the KIa and Hyundai cars bound for U.K. In all it was about 6 weeks to Incheon from memory. Total distance was about 8500 miles ishhh Tyres lasted as diid chain.

That's a hugely kind offer but i think i'll stick to admiring the pics. I hate when we swap the bikes when out and about as i'm always paranoid.

I don't think it's winter road salt that's done it as I've only been out half a dozen times since the first frost and salting. It's just stty finishing. I'm not sure about ACF50 or similar as those bits get pretty hot. I'll have to do some research, clearly...
