Don’t worry… I only got half way through!
Not that keen on the bike’s noise. I’ll see myself out…
That's fair enough! It's a bit of a blare until you get above 9,000rpm – it's only then that it sounds like a V4. I much prefer the Aprilia engine to be honest, and not just for the noise. Not that keen on the bike’s noise. I’ll see myself out…
Work has been incredibly busy and stressful lately, all very last minute I decided to chuck a tent on the back of the bike and disappear for a couple of days.
I left Cornwall on Tuesday morning and headed to the Brecon Beacons, I found a quiet place to pitch my tent not far from Merthyr Tydfil.

A visit to the local M&S for provisions and ice to repurpose one of the cases.

I rode around the local area in the afternoon visiting some towns, and then spent all day Wednesday exploring the Brecon Beacons, some lovely views and the weather was very kind to me.
I packed up early on Thursday and visited Tredegar, Tonypandy where my grandparents were born, I have their birth addresses so visited both houses. As I wasn't too far from Aberfan I thought I should visit the memorial gardens to mark the terrible disaster in 1966.
The gardens were beautifully kept, I always find these sorts of places very humbling, the Aberfan disaster was a dreadful event that shook the nation.
From there a refuel and a swift ride home, in total I rode 670 miles and enjoyed everyone of them, just what the doctor ordered!

Sorry mak, got coffee deliveries to do!
I accept your apology Bob but coffee delivery on a week day that's actually classed as earning a living in the middle of no where with time to take another stunning pic ? I'm having non of it . On a positive note you can stick your ideal life because I've just arrived in Scotland for my holiday surrounded by mountains and a luxury cottage to boot I will add its only a weeks holiday unlike living the dream

Not much space for a lot of camping gearon the 701, bivvy bag and cheese sarnie?
There's a rucksack on the other side of that bike, not much gear nonetheless.Didn't end up in the Forest. Found an amazing spot, right next to a stream, way off the beaten track. HOWEVER, the little layby leading to it had smashed car window glass all over the place which felt like a red flag.
Ended up on a beach, met a nice guy called Tim who's doing a full, 9 week coastal tour of Britain. Few vans here, bit of partying going on so I'm up having a few beers and watching the trawlers chug past. Lovely stuff.

Great ride out yesterday to Clacton followed by an evening slightly more mad one with the zed heads in London
Roads were lovely but very busy. Genuinely question how some drivers get up in the morning and function with their mentality but over 20 years road riding I just know that's life
Bung an old tyre on the spare wheel that someone had binned so I could be a nob and play about
By midnight I was catching up on the phone and decided right here to Google best way to get home from central London

I love Dumfries and Galloway, some great roads and away from the main routes never that busy. Lots of hidden gems
Could not believe how quiet it was, especially once you're west of Dumfries. Between the bottom of the Mull of Galloway and Newton Stewart I overtook just two cars this morning. Stark contrast to the Lakes which is an absolute st show at the moment.
‘Girder forks only’ run on Saturday round Aberdeenshire; great day but Baltic. It was bloody freezing. The more I ride old bikes the more I like them - just as much fun as the modern stuff but you really have to think about your gear changes (crash box), braking (crap brakes) and lines.
Before the off - the trusty Chief
Lunch stop
Inspired by this post, I though I’d see what the old girl would do 0-60.
OK, it was on the trailer at the time, but who said anything about doing it under its own power?
Then out today where it’s was actually warm for a wee run on the Hurricane.
