Good luck. What kinda machine you planning on getting?
Thanks. The current intention is to get a Triumph Street Triple. I'm a big fan of the more upright riding position, the Bandit's I'm doing my lessons on are perfect for me but I want to own something a little more special.

1) Do a European track day. (Currently looking into it)
2) Do a few U.K. Trackdays
3) Don't smash myself up too badly
4) Don't blow the bike up
5) Don't just sit in the garage if it's a wet trackday!
Buy wets, trust the bike and you'll be amazed at what they can do
thumbup

I do have wets but I haven't had chance to use them yet. I've only done one day on this bike so far after a few years out of it. I've just spunked the best part of £500 on a healtech QS and a domino Quick action throttle in preparation for next years antics. Canny wait!

Summer Euro trackday at Brno already booked and an Autumn one somewhere tbc in Spain or Portugal in the Autumn.

UK trackdays at Donington, Anglesey and Castle Combe. Will probably do the Anglesey one as a James Whitham training day.

I've recently moved house to the west country so will try to explore the local roads and events: Weston bike night, Lyme Regis for seaside therapy and Calne bike night.

Must cut a new doorway into garage and convert it and the adjoining bedroom into funky bikey man cave wotsit.

Will try to pop along to the new Welsh Road Races in August.

Just had a new career move as well as the new house so if that works out will upgrade the track bike or get some other petrolheady toy about this time next year.

Road riding will be covered by the 98 R1 still, might resto it a bit or indeed just try to service it - it's still got the same oil in it from Jerez trackday 18 months ago.

How's everyone doing so far?? Only a few weeks / months to go depending on your sense of humour.

Did Brno & Portimao as Euro trackdays. Awesome.

Did Bedford as my UK trackday. The other one to awesome.

Done absolutely no local bikie events near new house. Maybe next year.

I've cut a doorway into house to start the bike / man cave. Yay! Still need to move a storm drain, concrete base, tile floor, electrical sockets & lights, heating stuff, painting & decorating. We're almost there. I could pay someone to do it but it's hardwork when you can do it yourself and are far too tight.

Welsh Road Races didn't happen - I can't be blamed for that.

Bought & sold an R1 & a GSX-R750. Just because.

Job move is killing me slowly with too much driving.

Tiny bit of road riding when the mood takes me (see above). Still on the 98 R1 ex-track wotsit I've owned for 10 years that eveyone thinks is a highly collectible classic. Looks great from 10 yards away but still needs an oil change from a couple of years ago and stop leaky forks rather than keep wiping them. Resto soon - just need to finish garage first.

More time required!

New forks tubes for my fizzy, the oil has completely vanished leaving only the springs for damping

Fix the speedo on my LC, fit new seat cover and get the tank sprayed again, also clean it as the last time it was cleaned was march.

Quick action throttle, ABS delete and some new EBC pads and a couple of thousand quids worth of tyre for the track bike.

Same sort of uk road trips into jockistan and my local roads and of course parking my arse at rothbury drinking coffee all day at the Vale Cafe in the sunshine while smoking as many cigars as I can before going home.

Maybe having a TD abroad with just the old knackers off here so I can rough them all up.

That's it.
Not changed the fork tubes on the fizzy but I did rob the thrust washer out of the 2 stroke oil pump to replace the one I lost from the LC.

Didn't bother with a quick action throttle but did do the ABS delete and got some fork extensions in the front and a ride height adjuster in the rear with a new spring for my weight.

Didn't do a TD with the old farts off here but they did have one without me so they can all get bent.

Not fixed the speedo, tank or seat cover on the LC but I did fix the engine after the big end collapsed causing the usual mayhem on a 2 stroke.

Had a good summer out on the road bike and I did drink plenty of Coffee and smoked cigars while getting burnt to a frazel at Rothbury.

Finish my micro CustomBike ST 212.

Get on it and ride.Lots.

Don´t have said bike confiscated, impounded or crushed.

Start assembling 1974 ST70.
Complete fail, had some progress until May 18, then Drag Racing season and work stuff got in the way of customizing,

how could that happen ? Rats, standing on the bench and making me feel sad.

Now working a LOT, on location for weeks, probably until December.

Maybe taking January & February 19 off, 300 hrs overtime accumulated, and continue work on MicroBike.

I bought 2 bikes in 2017, so in 2018 I'm hopefully going to use them. It's embarrassing. I've only covered 1,300 miles on the SP since mid-April and only 700 on the AT since September. It's quite frustrating that when the weather is great, I'm tucked up doing work or committed to doing stuff around the house and when I've been free its been chucking it down or blowing a gale.

2/10. Must try harder.
Hmm, well I managed to put 1,500 miles on the SP and 1,500 on the AT. Not really much of an improvement.

.... I've run out of reasons not to spend time with my family, but thankfully my thoughts turn to next year.
That did make me smile, how about getting an interesting project like Birky has? The kids will have forgotten they had a Dad by March if you get one in enough pieces...biggrin

1) Carry on getting as many miles in with my Dad as possible.

2) Get the KR1 back to my house, which will possibly mean flattening existing shed and building a new shed & base, which isnt likely so I may have to :

3) Sell 1 bike to make room

4) Rebuild 350LC engine.

5) Attend the Bikers Classic in Spa
Hit and miss for me.

KR1 still in storage and no shed at home..but at least I didnt sell it.

350LC rebuilt and fine but had some major electrical issues which has seen it off the road for months..

Did get to the Bikers Classic in Spa , which was brilliant.

Didnt see me selling the Firestorm & buying a BMW last year...

Mine are;

1) At least one track day
2) An off-road motorcycle course
3) Do at least 4,000 miles on the Uganda Twin
4) Do at least 2,000 miles on the GSXR
5) At least three big tours up the highlands.
This year was my annus horribilis (no, not a "horrible anus"). Health problems meant I lost my job and had to sell the GSXR sadly.

I did however start to feel the love for the whole "adventure bike" thing. I managed to get some good miles on the Uganda Twin including a trip to the outer Hebrides with some mates. I also managed a fair amount of,"light" off road use, and visited some great roads I'd never be able to take another vehicle. I've learned these bikes really do have their niche if you've got the opportunity to use them properly, frankly living in Scotland and owning a motorcycle is amazing.

I also bought a compressor and taught myself to change my own tyres (local garages want £70 for ride in/out now)... Crap year, but definitely the highlight has been the bike!!

Must Do

1. Tart the track bike up to race proper.
2. 2000 miles min on the 4 bikes.
3. Finally do a Euro trackday.
4. Fall off, I managed a year without it, I'm due a couple
5. Do a season in Scottish championship, goal, 1 point.
6. Do at least one endurance race down south.
7. Attend wheelie school with prolapse like we said we would.
8. Ride around the highlands, not just the usual roads.
9. Ride to engerland again.
10. Visit a new track in the UK
11. Get track training.

Stretch Goals

12. Sell my Fireblade if I don't do 2.
13. Buy a motorcross thingy, (hinges upon moving to a house with a garage).
14.Try to get fitter if I'm going to be racing.
15. Complete the IAM course just for something to do, become an instructor, buy a GS, develop a taste for animal porn and Jeremy Vine.
16. Ride in Europe.
17. Not buy another bike.

fk, just realised I'd fk 17 if I do 13 and vise versa.

A fking ste year for me, started well, then I fked my back for a few months. On the plus side I quit smoking 5 months ago, got a mtb and I ride that 3-4 times a week and have never been fitter.

My plans are:

1) finally move out of London (all going well I’ll be in my first house in January - hello Surrey) Done
2) buy a bike again with lovely affordable Surrey insurance costs (1299/RSV4/GS if the OH still shows ah interest in coming along... hopefully she won’t and I can have a sportsbike again after years of being uninsurable) OH fell pregnant so got a 1198 as a treat
3) some form of tour in Europe Yep, though I think I lost the mojo a bit and didn't love it as much as I hoped
4) perhaps a trackday Nope

Very much the same as 2017:

1. Do the Old Gits trip to Provence in June;
2. Survive another year commuting into London;
3. Get my 1984 BMW R100CS back on the road;

and an extra one:

4. Decide what bike will replace my K1300S. This will be a real challenge as there is very little out there that interests me.
We'll, as Meatloaf said "two out of three ain't bad"

One and two ticked and the extra number 4 will be sorted before the end of the year.

I didn’t manage to get the R100CS back on the road. Maybe next year!

For 2018 my goals were fairly straight forward:

Pass Mod 1
Pass Mod 2

Initially the goals for 2019 were to:

Buy a first bike
Get some miles under my belt.

Fortunately, I managed to pass Mod 1 and Mod 2 in quick succession in July (major admin error, on my part, helped with this) and picked up a bike two weeks later.

I still haven't managed to complete my kit list yet, but there's still time.

Congratulations on the pass!

By the way - there is no such thing as a complete kit list. smile
