I am 6'6" and get on perfectly with my 690, now on 35k km, I just adore it, unless you have lots of wonderful open roads and enjoy jailable speeds, it is the most fun thing ever, also exactly what you want to be on when things are slippery, etc, nothing else comes close to it's abilities, especially at low speed. I love moving around at 10 or 20 but using massive lean, the ability to stuff it into turns, spit the back out with extra gas, all the things you ever dreamed of doing on a bike, made easy and accessible

Maybe I'm spoilt at 6ft6 but if someone needs to be doing the stuff in that video....maybe they bought the wrong bike!!!

That side stand reliance stuff looks like a accident waiting to happen!
I'm 5ft 10 and I managed fine. You just get used to one footing it all the time. Slide an arse cheek off the seat if you have to haha. The things are featherweight too so that helps.

5'9 here and never had a problem, just on tip toes a bit, can still flat foot it when leaning to one side. Helps if you're a bit heavier at 14 stone instead of an 11 stone whippet. Going back to the debate, 690SMCR or 701 - I don't think you can make a wrong decision. It's styling really at the end of the day. I prefer the KTM looks but the Husqy looks great too.

Think i need to set a budget and stick to it and on that basis it'll be used 690 SMC.

Just now gotta find the right bike and most seem with dealers not private

I'm sure this comment isn't useful to the OP's question as it refers to a new model, but..... if I was looking to change bikes I would have a serious look at the KTM 790 Duke announced at Motorcycle Live.

790 cc parallel twin with loads of electronic gizmos, decent (usual KTM futuristic) styling? with reasonable power but light as a feather & allegedly great handling.
All for £8499 iirc.
Sounds like it's close to the pumped up version of and ER6-n that I always thought should have been made.
Bit of a hooligan.
Not a bad competitor to MT-09 or base Street Triple too.
What's not to like?

Looks like a riot! Any idea on release date? I saw price quoted at £8,200 elsewhere....
Edit: I just saw this: http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news-new-bikes...

790 duke looks amazing, wait for that? It looks a likely replacement for my 2016 street triple.

14 year old bike for £3k??? Seems quite steep - its almost like a collector's piece.
