Great videos. Liked and subscribed. Not normally one for music bit it went really well

Really can't understand why people dislike that type of video when all you're doing is having a good ride. If they don't like it turn it off

I think most people nailed it on the head with a all round great package.

I had a 2008 Speed triple in Orange new that I kept for 3 years.
I had my Blade after and kept for 5 years but still loved the triple.

Even back 10 years ago (christ was it that long!!!) it was not up there with the best naked. But i loved the looks, engine and noise.

So it did not make a difference if it was not as tech minded, most power etc..

as it was just what people wanted and if selling well why change it much

You want a 2011 updated one. Regardless on cosmetic changes with round light to fox eye there were significant chassis upgrades. I have a late 2013 model and was prepared to buy new when the 2016 model came out but the update was too small to warrant extra money over an ultra low mile 2nd hand model.

Some pics...

Stunning bike that..

So it looks as though I should need around £5-6k for a 2011+ model, I do prefer the looks as well to be honest.

Cheers

Thanks! the YouTube copyright claiming is becoming a pain to put individual music to anything.

Why isn't it as good as the latest gen of super nakeds, like the super duke, MT-10 SP etc.?

I love the design, and the brand, just wish the bike was on par. What should Triumph do to it?
Not on par? You mean it has 20 less hp? Is this that important?
What else is not on par?

An MT10 wheelies in 3rd gear off the throttle. The KTM thumps it in the mid range. The S1000R tops it for gadgets. A Tuono 1100 tops its character.

In isolation my Speed Triple is ace - I very much enjoy it and think it looks great. Bikers and non-bikers come up to you regularly to ask about it when you park it up as it has an X factor and presence.

BUT when you push on hard, it's no faster than a 600 super sport. It's not on a par with the others. For me that doesn't matter (much), but I bought a second hand one as for new money, until they sort the engine, I'd be taking my money elsewhere. Point to point the new 765 Street Triple RS will be faster. That alone says the 'halo' model needs an overhaul when their middle weight trumps it. If you just want looks and character they have the Thruxton, but the Speed Triple needs to at least have a go at getting close in the Top Trumps super naked game.

A new engine could also help boost sales of the excellect Tiger Sport, so it could compete with the multistrada and S1000XR.

At £5.5k to £7.5k for the 2011 to 2015 model, there's not much to touch it if in that market and the older bike is more raw, characterful and not in need of power modes and TC compared to the new one.

Exactly this

Especially comparing to the latest super nakeds

The Tiger Sport had a big upgrade for 2016...who knows what's in the pipeline but maybe a new engine isn't coming all that soon because of that.

The amount of BHP a bike has on British roads is pretty meaningless anyway. I've been out with guys on MT10's and one couldn't keep up and the other couldn't get past, and that was with me riding a MT07! smile

This.

I ride my old 1998 with the brother in law who has an mt10. Despite the massive difference in power the 1/4 mile times are just 1.2 secs apart (11.6 vs 10.4). On the road it makes little difference especially as I can just wind my throttle back at will and he has to be so so careful in anything but perfect conditions.

I'll be getting a speed triple in the next couple of months and yes it's down on out right power but from what I've read/seen, the throttle is no where near as snatchy so I should be able to roll the throttle on a little more easier than he can.

Having said all that we'll be riding at modest speeds anyway and at no where near what each bike can do, so that makes it even more irrelevant unless we track them.

The speed triple is the one bike I really regret getting rid off.

Just a complete hoot to ride. And being roulette green it was very noticeable
