A bike with a pop-up headlight, how the fk did that manage not to become a permanent thing? Love that Katana.

@Paul, no, I saw the Scotland Katana, it went quite cheaply, I contacted the owner who was emigrating and put a bid on it for spares but that had an all white nose cone and was a jdm spec restricted model. Mine came from the west country and is one of the original 25 UK full power bikes.

Thanks Krikkit, It’s a lovely thing, the pop up headlamp is awesome, only the GSX750SE Katana’s had them and the jdm equiv S3/4. The full power ones can be told apart from the larger rear wheel and stalk mounted rear indicators as they were produced mainly for the Oz market and were raced there. It came out around te same time as Streethawk, which had a pop up laser wink

The 750SE Katana was always a thing as a youngster, so definitely fits the thread title for me. I don’t know about nowadays though, they’re beautiful but time has reduced their menace. A few times I’ve got as far as searching them for sale but don’t think I’d take the leap. Then again I don’t even have a full license yet so ignore me.

ETA similar feelings about the 900R.

but
It is sexy, when I first see this at the street, it change me, from a fresh grad idiot into bike enthusiast
it have unexplainable beauty, the sound it make is the most enjoyable music

The RN09 R1 came out when I was a student, and I wanted one badly. 6 years later I got my wish smile

My favourite colour scheme was silver/black. So of course when I bought my 2 examples, I bought first a blue one, and when that one was stolen, one in red/black.....

Don't really have grail bikes anymore, just bikes from that (sentimental) period I want to own one day.

- Green KTM Duke 2
- Aprilia RS125 from 1999/2000
- Honda CR500
- Ducati 998R/748R
- Bimota V-Due

Basically, all the stuff I couldn't afford then.

Sunbeam S7

Because fat tyres/low/genteel.

Moto Guzzi Griso SE

Damn cool motorcycle. Kind of think BMW 'borrowed' the styling idea when they designed the R Nine T.

Owned neither, but could. Maybe one day smile

My ultimate want

My first love, as a kid if anyone asked it was one of these!

Well it's either this or an nsr500... both just as unobtainable to mere mortals such as myself.
I've ridden one of the above. Guess which.

Mine was RC45 from the first time I saw it reviewed in PB (Hislop didn't help his relationship with Honda much by saying it wasn't much good and he preferred the 916, I think). My local Honda dealer amazingly asked me to run one in when launched because Superbike were borrowing it to test alongside an NR750 apparently. I couldn't believe I took that call. Did around 1000 miles in the three day weekend.

I was lucky enough to but my own in about 1997 so lived that dream, sold it way back in like 2002 or something, probably an error smile

The other was a Norton F1 going back a bit, and that Norton dream is coming true later this year when my V4SS arrives. Not planning on making the mistake of selling that one!

Some super interesting bikes on this thread!

It has always been the RC30 for me after riding one to Le Mans in 1994 and swapping regularly with my 92 Blade.
Nowadays still hanker for one but missed the boat, along with the RC45.

Realistically : 959 Panigale

If I won the Lottery: 1199 Panigale Superleggera

Love the colour, the noise and the looks. And you'll never see someone on the same bike as you on the road.

Some great bikes and stories on here biggrin

Mine has always been the Ducati Desmosedici RR. It’s the bike that made me get my licence four years ago after watching countless YouTube videos on them. Was fortunate enough to get one two years ago and it’ll remain with me until my last breath - simply love the thing, either riding or just looking at it angel

It’s turned me into a bit of a collector though - Speciale also arrives this year!

Fantastic collection there! Very jealous indeed.
When does the Speciale arrive? Or is the date not confirmed yet?

They’ve quoted Oct for delivery although they’re “speeding up” according to the dealer! I’ve asked for sooner (no st!), but mine has the mag wheel option, so not sure how flexible they’ll be (all others at my dealer we’re ordered with the standard wheels).

From having one in my late teens, Ive been after another LC for 30 years or so, finally got one albeit a hybrid a couple of years back, been great and so glad i did.

The other one I'd like, after once owning a lovely nc30, would be a rc30 for that distinctive v4 howl.

The NC30 is a tremendous bike. I regret not buying one when they were cheap.
