Pity Dorna made a complete arse of the coverage at the pit stops, otherwise some good racing.
I almost threw the remote at the TV when they cut to Jacobson leading because he hadn't stopped just as the previous leaders were coming out of the pits to meet the others who had pitted the lap before. The commentary team didn't like that either.

That’s was an absolute farce. Glad that the commentators slated them for it.

Well done Marco, best form seen for a while. Perhaps the 1199R may win a title in its last year of competition. JR will take some beating though

Good performances from Alex and Leon, all good stuff

Good to have racing back

The pit stop made for a very much needed shot of excitement into the otherwise customary processional nature of WSBK racing of late - and yes, amazing that the producer couldn’t foresee the need to follow the joining pack merging with the prior pitstoppers ... but I found it funny rather serious !
Maybe this could be WSBK’s year , it couldn’t have got worse so better is on the cards I feel ....smile

Thought it was as good as ever. Marco has found his feet and MDV is keen as ever, Chas is mercurial and JR is sublime. Lowes has it all to prove, Sykes is subdued and needs to forget about JR. lots of also rans trying very hard to prove themselves.

I enjoyed race 2.
Not sure if it was because there's not been any BSB or GP on for a few months, but that was actually a good race (apart from the crappy coverage mentioned above!) and for once, I really enjoyed a WSBK race

I got told off by the Mrs for effin and jeffin at the TV when the leaders were coming together from the pit stop.

That takes some doing to fk up like that and to be honest I'm still fkin annoyed about it which isn't like me at all.

Do you think it was a fk up? I too was shouting at the tv but thinking about it I wonder if there’s some kind of clause that if a bike/rider is leading they have to get x amount of tv coverage for their sponsors?

It’s the only thing I can think as it went on so long and was so obvious to so many, it can’t have been a fk up...?!

Definitely this, but it’s a proper fk up. Wonder if that’s why the other rider stayed out too long to try to blag some coverage before his black flag.

I do think it was just a fk up.

A good one.

I enjoyed it. Race 2 went to the wire which was good. Ok the TV coverage of the pitstops seemed to nearly cause heart attacks in the commentary box but Melandri deserved the win. His bike was bucking and wobbling on the straights.

It looks a Kawasaki / Ducati ding-dong at the mo. smile

I thought that was just what the Ducati does.

Shakey’s BSB bike does the same thing.

Whitham was saying it's some aerodynamic issue that manifests at high speed. Melandri was certainly affected by it much more than the other Ducati's on the grid, over the weekend.. Not sure if it's because he's little and light or if it was a setup issue..
Didn't slow him down much though. smile

The racing all feels a bit contrived to me now, KRT Kawasaki are restricted to 14100 rpm, the rest of the 4 cylinder bikes can run to 14700, apart from Honda who are restricted to 14300 for some reason.

I'm not the biggest fan of Jonathan Rea, seems slightly unfair to make changes purely to allow the rest of the field catch up with him though.

It did make for better racing all the same, just wonder how long it will take Rea to ride around the restrictions, then what will they do........

"Taped" replay later on sunday/Monday but they didnt show the start as another programme was on. No worries went to catch up, clcked on race 1 and race 2. Race 1 great, race 2 was the SS. Ok back to catch up and saw there were several "race 2's". Cheers eurosport/sky

Not sure if you know the result but here's how Tory Bayliss and his son Oli's weekends went.

I'm not a big fan either but in the face of all the whinging they have felt obliged to do something and after 7 rounds they are going to take more RPM away from the most successful bikes.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge things, though. Phillip Island is a pretty unique track in the modern world and usually throws up a great race. Last year's was good too. Plus, Rea has got some kind of illness and Chaz Davies is still riding injured from the big crash he had in testing. Thailand will give us a better idea of where things stand.
