It was a good season opener. I'd be surprised if Lorenzo is back on the Ducati next year, can't see him turning it round. Rossi did brilliantly to get to the front of the grid so quick and deserves the podium, I hope Yamaha can gain that little bit extra this year and be consistently at the front. Rins was doing really well and looked gutted but a promising start

I was surprised to hear Marquez being booed on the podium! Cracking ride from Dovisioso. All in all a good start to the season. Crafar was terrible.
Wasn't Crafar the one that challenged anyone (public) to beat him on a Harley ElectraGlide or some such around Mallory on their own bike back in the 90s?

I think that was Paul Lewis, could be wrong though.

MotoGP have Simon Crafar in the pits, I think he's landed too often on his head and he's making a lot of errors and not even knowing who he's talking to sometimes.
Lovely bloke and skilled coach that he is, he is really not remotely suited to live commentary ....faltering and awkward , in fact beyond poor ... can’t be around for long ...
+1 on nice chap.

+1 as an aweful commentator.

I will not have a bad word said about Simon Crafar.

Watching him rag an old RC30 round Cadwell in 92 chasing far better bikes.

And also watching qualifying from the outside of the Old Hairpin in 98, watching him lay a massive darkie, with a gearchange in the middle out of the bend.

And then seeing him win a GP the next day.

But yes, not the best interviewer!

Don't get the hate for Keith, he has always been great in my book. Every commentator makes mistakes, but I think his enthusiasm is great. I think the rhetoric about Brits comes from BT, not from him, if it does, then he is a bum, but I doubt it. BT seem to think we only watch this stuff to cheer on brits, and that is very far from the case.

Far, far better than the smug git Moody and don't even get me started on Cox and Parrish.

Or Nick Harris who spent 30 years in the pit and still pronounced countless peoples names wrong and tracks and even countries.

Agreed. Bodes very well for the year, closely matched bikes and some awesome talents.

Marquez's result is ominous for the others. The Honda looks like its going to be the best all round package this year with strong showings from Dani and Cal.

Although I do think Marc needs to work on not letting Dovi undertake him again with a big old block pass.

Good to see Yam's going well...

I'm in the other camp. As much as I like Dovi giving Marc just enough rope to hang himself with, I think He needs to start shutting he door a little more. Marc knows if he sends one up the inside, Dovi will leave him room. Time to start turning in, and if they crash, so be it. Just make sure worst case they both go down.

Trouble is dovi knows it's coming and that marquez then runs wide , plus the ducati has the grunt to pull away to the finish line.

I'm hoping that Qatar being Qatar and the type of track that it is, isn't just an oddity and that the rest of the season can have racing that was as close and with so many different riders/manufactures up there fighting for wins..

It would be good to have a full season of close racing, with multiple riders in with a chance of taking the title.. It makes it much more interesting than one rider just winning every race and the title being pretty much over and done with half a dozen races to go..

The Lorenzo crash was a bit of an odd one.. Initially thought he'd just lost the front end, but seeing what he has posted on Twitter, it seems he had no brakes, and when the bike was recovered to the pit, there was pad missing. The team have been out to turn 4 where he crashed and there is no sign of the pad anywhere, although I guess it could have come out after turn 3

What was going on with Alex Martquez's rear brake in Moto2 ? Seemed to be stuck on for a lap or so, but then OK for the rest last 6 or 7 laps of the race, or did he realise what was wrong and just stop using it?

Might have worn the pad down so it was no longer touching the disc?

Was he trail braking or accidently keeping it on? But his pace dropped right off after that. odd
