big ouch to your partner.

quite sobering the amount of damage done given the rtc occurred at a junction.

please keep on top of those injuries; if they get worse don't hesitate returning to A&E. was physiological mentioned at all too?

Well, they certainly aren't hanging around!

Mrs 215 has already had an email from the engineer confirming the bike as a Cat N write off, giving a not unreasonable settlement value and a tempting "the remains are yours for X" figure.

Watch this space...

In the meantime, a trip to the GP this afternoon has seen a different box of painkillers and a physio referral asap.

Sorry to hear this. Glad to hear the Mrs is generally ok. Accidents suck, but sounds like dodged a bullet.

Good luck and GWS! Jump back on the horse. Life's too short to give up due to bad luck.

Obviously looking after Mrs Rubes is the main priority here, but also bear in mind that it's often possible to improve on their first offer. I guess lots of people will just accept that, so they go in a bit low. If you can back it up with some current adverts, etc then you should be able to improve either the offer, or the salvage price, or both. I managed both when I got punted off my bike. Can't remember the exact figures but it started out at something like £7300 and 33% for the salvage and ended up at £8500 and 19%. Mine wasn't badly damaged at all, for comparison the only thing I had to change to put it back on the road was the exhaust headers, the rest is as-was even today and from 10ft away you absolutely can't see any damage. Your Mrs' is clearly a bit more bent but that should play in your favour for the salvage price, at least. Good luck!

Had exactly the same thing happen to me 5 years ago except at a round about. Got to the front, traffic was stationary, guy behind just punted the bike from under me.

He got out and shouted “you should have gone”. He told the police: “I was looking right, I could go and then I hit him. He should have gone and not been there.”

I had the pleasure of a speed awareness course last month and they did a bit about hitting bike. They call them "SMIDSY", Sorry Mate I Didn't See You. Its such a common answer to why someone hit a bike that there is now a tick box on the RTC form rather than writing it out every time. People do seem to have a certain bias to bikers, they're all wrapped up in their protective steel box, and has been proven by your better half, even at slow speed a biker can come off badly.
