After many false starts, I'm actually planning to go to the festival this year.

Are there any PHers who can give some tips please. The website is limited on information.

1) Do I need to book tickets or can I get them on the "door"!
2) Any insider tips on parking and viewing points etc
3) There is a party planned for Saturday night. Does this include spectators?

Any other information would be helpful. Many thanks.

Unless it has changed since the last time I was there, the parc ferme is all free, with no tickets to buy.

Out on the special stages, some places you can just park up and wait for the cars to come by.

Other places, you will pay a small fee €5 ish to access a private area, park up, then walk to the spectator points.

Oh, and it is brilliant, so enjoy! biggrin

For anyone who is in love with rallying, especially from days gone by, this event is pure nirvana.

The Daun town centre is completely transformed in to a service park with jaw-dropping classic rally cars around every corner. The event brings out many legends too, in the last two years I have seen (apologies for any spelling errors) Walter Rohrl, Miki Biasion, Stig Blomquist, Armin Schwarz and so many more. Quite often some of the "modern" guys come too.

Most of the cars are genuine ex-"Works", but the website/program is quite clear about (very good) replicas, there's nothing being hidden here.

Parking in Daun is ok, there are several multi-stories within easy walkof the town centre, and by the way the drive through the Eiffel is nearly as much fun as the rally itself! Once in the centre it's very easy to find everything, and in the service park there are a couple of official stands you can buy programs and the aforementioned stage passes. It's much easier to buy one here but you can get them at the stages too. There's also the rally HQ in one of the public buildings. I'm not sure about parties.

All the stages are close by and it becomes obvious where the popular viewing spots are. Parking is plentiful but gets very busy, and there is a good supply of beer and food in all the larger areas.

Enjoy it. For me having grown up with the sport from the early 70s it's like going back in time, and it's a day you will want to repeat every year.
