Well poop - 86 in a 60
Discussion
It arrived, i'm going to have a chat with my next door bobby tomorrow, and get his opinion on how to proceed. Unfortunately i don't really have the immediate funds to go for a lawyer, i have the option to admit guilt by letter out of court, and hope that this is the best way to go about things. I'm just concerned about the possibility of a temporary ban, as this could endanger my job. If i were to opt for court i'd at least get a heads up on the date that this could possibly happen over and be able to book a few weeks off.
On an odd note they've got the speed down as 87 instead of the 86 that i was informed of at the time. Not that it matters i suppose, it's almost certainly just a rounding thing.

Do you have a different speed on the ticket they gave you?On an odd note they've got the speed down as 87 instead of the 86 that i was informed of at the time. Not that it matters i suppose, it's almost certainly just a rounding thing.

Strange attitude. Why do you have the bike if it is so easy to give up on it?
I never noticed this comment before, my bike is just a toy to me. I do love riding it however I am aware of my own faults, my license is needed for my work, and therefore a slower toy might be a better idea. Maybe a classic car/bike.Its a 2008 zx6r, I was looking to trade it in for an MT07/9 anyway, as I find 14000rpm peak power and being geared to 86 in 1st impractical for fun road use.

I thought it was a FPN for less than 30 over the limit. Has it recently been changed?
I can't help you with court, other than you should look sad and apologetic. Don't tell them they are a bunch of s and that they should be catching real criminals.
I’m not sure when it changed. But it seems most forces have their own guidelines which are broadly in line with the ACPO guidelines. They say a summoning at 86. My local force publish lower limits than these guidelines though.I can't help you with court, other than you should look sad and apologetic. You’re a very naughty boy.
I got done a few years by a fat on a police bike. His written statement of events while not lying, was written in such a way to make it sound even more severe than it actually was.
I couldn’t say too much really as I was doing 77 in a 40. I thought I’d got away with it until my summons arrived 3 days short of the 6 month cut off.
A full day hanging around the court, I was finally the last one to be seen that day. I don’t know whether they were fed up or it was the fact that I was the first of the day not wearing jeans with my undercrackers showing and a cap on the wrong way round, but I came away feeling I had been treated like an adult and reasonably lenient. I went in with 3 points and expected to come away sans licence.
Politeness and addressing them correctly saw me leaving there with a licence teetering on the limit and £580 donated to the Christmas party, however I still felt lucky.
Good luck with it

My last points were gained on the back straights of the Rest and Be Thankful where the happy little plod told me if I had been doing that ludicrous speed in the wet he would've done me for Careless Driving. 84mph. In a car. Restored my faith in the constabulary that did.
OP: 5-6 points and £300 is my guess. Lucky it wasn't in Dumfries and Galloway, the courts down there really have a thing for speeding.

They never handed me anything when I left their vehicle. Are you meant to receive a ticket on the day also?
no - they just have to give you a verbal warning (this is your NIP) you're going to be prosecuted for a particular offence. If they don't warn for an offence you can't be prosecuted for it. afaik. Then up to 6 months for the paperwork to arrive.Ah the rest and be thankful. fk that road is good. *sigh* never to be ridden at pace again for me after something similar
Yeah, very relieved. I have resolved to move on from the sports bike and get something more suited to having fun at slightly lower speeds on bumpier twistier roads. Not that it would have prevented the ticket in this case but hey ho, it's a good excuse.
Maybe a Hypermotard 796 or Dorsodura 750 next.

That's a very good result!
I'd suggest a 800-1000cc v-twin, no need to rev the nuts off it to have fun.
I've had similar thoughts, i had a go on an SV650 and an MT07 but they felt a little flat to me. I'm going to be booking a test drive on the dorsoduro this coming Monday, and if it impresses i'll stick the zx6r up for sale. No rush though, i do still enjoy my bike it's just a little sad that Max power in first gear is reached above the national speed limit.I'd suggest a 800-1000cc v-twin, no need to rev the nuts off it to have fun.
