Stop fking around and look for a 04-06 R1 or 04-05 ZX-10

Track days, touring and commuting all in one package
This, or one of the first GSXR1000s.

I do know someone (me) with a rather lovely K4 that is up for sale at the moment. They are a very versatile bike.

I ditched the DCBS ( aka linked brakes) as really not a fan with a HEL custom line kit specifically designed for the job. I also installed the rear shock shim too. Makes it handle way better rear ride height overall up by about 25mm with the 6mm shim. I also had full Givi Wingrack2, Top box for day to day commuting and then panniers for the touring holidays.
Bled the brakes as soon as I got the bike (pain in the arse) and still hate the brakes so just ordered a delink kit. Givi top box on the way. Looks like it'll be a great commuter that not too dull to ride. Test rode a cbf1000 before buying the blackbird, dull as hell and the blackbird is much much closer to a sportsbike.

Thanks all! I've just bought a 2001 VFR800FI

This one:

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2...

I did look at a 955 Daytona near me but I was struggling for the height. It wasn't in great condition for the money anyway (not that one someone linked to, that looked gorgeous but was 200 miles away). Remarkably few cbr600s near me and I did consider a very nice but repainted sv1000.

Really appreciate all the advice, as usual!

Looks nice.

Just bought one of those panniers. Bit concerned now as it looks massive.

Looks really sexy, especially if it did not have that HUGE wind-screen.

I’ve got my SV1000 I could possibly part with. Probably one of the cleanest in the country, 14000 miles, fsh, loads of extras, pc5 etc

  • just seen you got a vfr now, great choice!

I have indeed, but that doesn't mean your SV isn't absolutely flippin' gorgeous!
