Triumph Speed Four is the bargain cafe-look/retro middleweight best kept secret out there.
A cafe racer should not have a screaming four pot sports bike engine IMO.The new SV650X is a nice looking machine for the money (£6k ish), Lamb Chops raved about his loaner bike in a recent video.

Do we have anyone on here who's actually got an R nine T Racer?
For what it's worth, I had one on test for a day last year and loved it once I was out on the open road.
Returning it to the dealer in central Manchester was a killer. It wasn't so much the weight on the wrists as having to continually fold and unfold my legs in the stop/start city traffic.
I'm still thinking about buying one though!
Yep, I have one and although it's only a week old, I love it. Spent last Sunday on it, 5 hours of riding and I felt it in my triceps the next day, but it's the only bike I've had where I've gone up and down the same road to nail the corners 5 times. For what it's worth, I had one on test for a day last year and loved it once I was out on the open road.

I know that the riding position is a compromise but personally, I like it and it's not too uncomfortable. Still running it in but the power is good and the engine sound lovely, if a bit shallow over 4k revs on standard exhaust.
Handling wise it's so well planted at speed, almost too stable but it corners really well and the riding position does exude confidence on the right roads. On the wrong roads you'd wish you were on almost anything else!

Oxford BMW are currently doing £3500 off the RnineT racer on their 7.9% finance. For what it's worth, I had one on test for a day last year and loved it once I was out on the open road.

I like you had one for the day but it was London. For what it's worth, I had one on test for a day last year and loved it once I was out on the open road.

I can see why it was voted the most uncomfortable bike in the history of the world
I didn't get the best open road experience (raining a lot) but I could tell the handling was great - and would be fab on a track.
Wouldn't buy one personally

Unfortunately not. It's the same V7 engine though which has been around for some time now so it should have had any...character?... ironed out of it by now. The issue for me is that there's nowhere within 70 miles that I can go and actually test ride/look at one in the flesh.+1 for the Guzzi V7, a lovely bike. I tested one last year in Geneva and really enjoyed it. Very simple, but with tons of character. The Special would be my choice, even just to get the rev counter as the other models just have a flashing change up light!
