Anyone been today? I’m going tomorrow, just wondered if anyone knew the time’s they start up some of the bikes? Last year they did the PBM MotoGP bike, the triumph moto2 and I think some Norton’s. The PBM GP bike was unreal up close
We Went Yesterday, was a little concerned beforehand as I'd watched Jamie Whitam's preview show and he mentioned twice that it was smaller than previous years, I needn't have been! The show was still in four halls (as usual) and was as busy and enjoyable as always. The highlight for me was definitely the new Suzuki Katana as I drooled over the original model as a nipper back in the day. Also I love that all the 1000cc class bikes have massive winglets , they look awesome.
Enjoyed the show that much, I'm probably going to go pop up again.
My tip for those yet to go, take your own food with you. or go out to one of the Resorts World bars/restaurants for lunch. the food served within the halls was the usual overpriced sub quality crap.
Few of us went up today...Ive never seen it so quiet , could quite easily walk around and have a sit on anything you wished without any wait.
Id suggest its worth visiting the Suzuki and Carole Nash stands for free tea and coffee.
Oh, if you list the flap that says "SOS" on the BMW 750 Adventure bike and press the button underneath , its connected and will dial up BMW Assist for you to have a brief, baffling but amusing conversation...

Felt busy today, but sat on 60% of stuff, walked around twice to make sure i had not missed anything. Was done in two hours.
Think i am going to trade the S1000RR for a KTM 1290 SuperDuke R.
Sat on the S1000RR and V4 S - my word they are thin.
What amused me is that the kids in tracksuits were all sitting on the dirt bikes, all the gentlemen of a slightly northern age bracket were queuing up for the adventure bikes, all the leather clad people were hanging around Indian and Harley, and the younger crowds were around the hyper naked and sports.

I'm led to believe that footfall seems somewhat down on previous years. Certainly trade would appear to be down on the retail stands.
Retail side of things has dropped massively, the likes of Honda and the IOMTT never even had retail sections on their stands this year. I went to EICMA, Milan motorcycle show this month. In Milan city centre a department store, Rinascente, furnished its windows with models from BMW, KTM, Piaggio (obviously) and had people in the store handing out flyers showing on which floors you could see the various motorcycles, all in conjunction with EICMA. This department store is one of Milan's finest selling designer clothes, watches, china, all sorts of fancy goods, and some tat, if you go to Milan visit this store, it's quite amazing with a fantastic bakery on the top floor.
Anyway, hopping onto the metro to the show I see the train is full, there is a mix, young, old, families, girls, boys. I think nothing of it until we all get off at the last stop, which is the show, they are all there to see the motorcycles, and this is the difference to Motorcycle live. Every year I've been to the NEC it's predominately male, 40's plus, some children with dad, and a scattering of ladies, pies, crap coffee. In Milan there was a definite lean towards the younger generation, loads of school kids, older girls in groups taking interest and snapping away the bikes, it was refreshing, it felt good, good food and the best coffee I had in Milan was here. I'm wondering if the Italians have a less perverse attitude towards biking, say to anyone ignorant 'I ride a bike' and await the intake of breath, 'ooh, dangerous'. Do the Italians have more freedom to enjoy the bikes, easier to get a licence, less concerned to the risk?
I’m not sure, but from the city centre to the show itself the whole place was buzzing and was delighted to have EICMA, the city loves motorcycles. It seems that Motorcycle Live has a smaller less interested audience, it’s all a bit grey, expensive. I always thought that Motorcycle Live was the norm, it isn’t, I think it represents a dying interest. I’m still going though.

How much does it cost to get into EICMA? I think Motorcycle Live is a bit expensive... especially if wanted to take family members too. Well, those over a certain age anyway.
I went with a mate who was curious about bikes and he came away deciding it wasn't really for him after all! He did concede that some of the bikes weren't as uncomfortable as he'd expected though. Excellent.

Went on the opening day.
We didn't bother with the show thankfully after reading this thread.
I was so impressed by the CCM stand i ended up buying a Flat Tracker, or at least putting my order in. They had already impressed me at the London show in February so they drew my attention the second i waled in but i'd not seen the Flat Tracker before.
The Foggy bike that was unveiled was also lovely but not really me if im honest. I'm told they have sold well over half the amount they intend to build.
