Going to make this as short as possible.

On 13/4/19 I bought a car for £850. 2 days later the engine light came on, I got the codes read and it shown two faults.

I’ve been in touch with the ‘trader’ I purchased it from. She’s saying she’s willing to refund me under the Consumer Rights Act however she’s deducting £50 for a logbook, £40 for a car valet and £1 per mile I’ve driven it since I bought it?

Can anyone shed any light on what my next step is.

Cheers.

Why £40 for a log book?! Will it need a valet? If need be take it to one yourself for £20 or so.

Bit cheeky for the mileage. Unless you've done loads?

What are the faults? Did they reappear after being cleared?

Or is the real issue you just don't like the car and are having a melt down over a EML in which case for everyones sake return the car take the money and get someone who knows about cars to help you find another

It's a rejection with 30 days, you are entitled to a full refund not a partial one, take the part refund then claim for the difference

The faults were cleared and then they reappeared a day after which is why I have decided to reject it.

Love these posts where we have to guess the details.

Think of it this way. If you keep it and it completely goes you’re stuck. You’re lucky you’re getting any offer whatsoever.

What were or are the codes. What car is it, how much any miles.

Yup, posts half a story and ignores numerous people asking the same question. Frustrating.
