Maybe tyre fitting places could have some tyre warmers to use on freshly fitted tyres ? ...maybe would that help if they sent you on your way with them warmed up, like on the track ?

could be an additional service for a fiver per tyre maybe ?
Perhaps they could kiss you on the forehead and read you a story before you set off.

And a sprinkling of holy water please on the new rubber wink

found it ...cant believe there are literally pages of youtube videos of people riding around talking about all these special methods and routes they have to ride when you fit new tyres smile

this guy has the easy option sorted....

I got a new rear tyre fitted once after a puncture and I saw the mechanic buzzing about the streets on my bike. I asked why the fk.
He was breaking in my new tyre.
I kinda felt a bit pissed off tbh I dunno why. But I especially puzzled me because I was in the day before getting my scrubs replaced on a set of loose wheels.

Had a puncture in Zaragoza and was really delayed finding a tyre place. Safe to say we were now mega late for the ferry. So after several Spanish warnings about not going silly for about hundred kilometre and my three companions showing what turned out to be mock consideration we were at about 120 leptons within what seemed to be 3 yards from the tyre shop front door. It all turned out well in the end.

Pointless excuse to hoon on someone elses pride and joy.
Its like that dash cam footage of the mechanic who took a guys sports car out, ragging the st out of it in every gear, blissfully unaware it was all being recorded and put on the news.

So that is the rear sorted...

Is that really to help you not fall off or rather to get rid of chicken strips?

I cant imagine a light brush with the side of a brick serves either purpose smile

Whilst waiting on my bike getting an MOT on a wet Friday at my local bike store I was speaking to a chap that was getting new tyres fitted to his Ducati desmodue. He did not look happy about the thought of taking out his pride and joy in the rain with new tyres on, I could sense his fear. Naturally I did my best to reassure him..... I wonder if he's still alive.

no, but when I asked for a price for a metz m7rr and a supercorsa the guy was gobsmacked that I could consider both of them in the same breath. Apparently you need to get a lot of heat into the sp, its only fitted to serious machines.

Don't know if they do or they don't, but it sounds kind of cool doesn't it having to 'scrub tyres in'. You don't get to say that when you've had a new set of Nankangfujisingh's fitted at the local National Tyre Centre to your BMW 320D.

I can't help feeling that the posters who are most outraged about the idea of pre-scrubbing of some sort before riding/taking the piss hardest are the ones who happen never to have had the misfortune of coming unstuck (pun intended smile) after fitting brand new tyres.

I think I'm a decent road rider, and am a confident fast group trackdayer and I've never had any incidents off track, except one. New Dunlops, I think (can't remember which ones quite, but might have been Qualifiers) on a Ducati 848 coming out of the tyre bay. Turning a very slight corner, hardly any lean and just enough throttle to keep it driving and down it went.

It was a few years ago and I remember thinking before I set off that they looked particularly shiny. I should have acted on that really!

I don't do any pre-scrubbing, even after that (but think the state new tyres arrive in now is probably better) but would not berate anybody who wants to take out some 'sandpaper insurance' to make sure.

Strangely enough the only time ive had a new tyre fitted and had the rear go on the way out of the tyre fitting place was on a new Dunlop on my ZXR750h1 ...its just a reminder to take it easy for a few miles smile
