Good.

He had me fooled, I thought he was OK several years ago.
Well its cheered me up that he may go to prison. I'd like to see him impoverished though the Proceeds of Crime bill. Take it all please.

It's how the legal system is geared, steal at a corporate level and you get off lightly in the UK because it's so common and probably more common amongst politicians and ex-politicians. But steal from the govt by claiming a state benefit or a tax relief you're not entitled to and the penalties are much more severe over what might just be a few thousand pounds.

Look at the recent failures by the top auditors like KPMG - who is in jail for their failures over, to name just one, Carillion ? Nobody. One person fined £150k which for a partner at KPMG is almost irrelevant, plus he can't practice for three years, big deal ! Carillion went down owing £7bn, 3000 people lost their jobs and 100s of smaller contractors and several larger businesses well out of pocket. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/jan/18/c...

Even the directors who "...presented accounts that misrepresented the reality of the business and increased its dividends come what may." https://www.ft.com/content/d50b92ef-c7f9-4f32-aeb5... were just barred from running businesses. Compare this to the sentences for benefits fraud: https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/outlines/bene...

If you're expecting Garner to go down for years I think you'll be disappointed. And much of the money will be hidden.
A good summary of the how the law favours the establishment, although The failure of external auditors is probably more about poor corporate governance rather than the individual actions of an out and out con artist like Garner. I won’t be the slightest bit surprised when he gets a suspended sentence. He’ll be able to nip round to Katie Price’s mansion and they can have a good laugh at our expense, and then drive her Rangie around high on toot

... of course what’s even more galling is in 3 years time, when the dust has settled, he’ll pop again with some new venture.....

Not sure they are even back on track now, I emailed about the V4 CR and no reply or holding message. You’d have thought the least they’d do considering they need to rebuild the rep.

For those following the case the sentencing hearing for Stuart Garner, that was scheduled for today, has been postponed to a later date according to the The Pensions Regulator.

I think his name is mud now. Would be surprised if he got anything going and had any form of backup

Indeed, the strange thing is these people don't tend to hit rock bottom, after his stint away ( if any) you won't see him in a council flat signing on with a can of special bru at the bus stop , seriously these people don't seem to hit rock bottom like normal folk rolleyes

That's because people like him tend to gamble and lose other people’s money and not their own. Very much a case of “heads I win and tails you lose”

"Judge Nirmal Shant QC gave him a custodial sentence of eight months but suspended it for two years, meaning he will not go to prison unless he commits a further offence within that time."

Exactly what was expected !! What a weak, pathetic legal system we have against corporate abuses and greed.

Not surprising but still shocking. What is the point in giving a suspended prison sentence? What has he done to deserve a suspension? Apart from being posh of course. I’m sure such judges take pity and don’t want to send one their own to prison with the riff raff.

I assume he also managed to protect some of his own personal wealth from bankruptcy by using family and/or friends.

They should have made him do 2000 hours community service in old people’s homes. Emptying pensioners’ bed pans for a year.
