Jorge Lorenzo has called an "exceptional" press conference today at 2pm with Carmelo Ezpeleta and all Spanish riders invited..

Almost certainly has to be retirement or at least some time away from Motogp.

Why only Spanish riders?

Whilst I still firmly believe he still has the talent and skill to win, his head is definitely not in the right place at the moment.

I suspect your right with either a year out or retiring from MotoGP entirely.

He's between a rock and a hard place, continue (if possible) with HRC and possibly have another year of running around at the back and potentially more injuries, or call it a day and take the money.

He was left in a similar situation when VR came back to Yamaha, and was in some way forced to jump ship to Ducati.

Saying that, rumour has it that Petrucci isn't safe in the factory team, JL could end up back there and Ducati would get him cheap given he hasn't performed all season, but I doubt that's an option in all honesty.

Zarco certainly looks tipped to fill the HRC seat given his two outings so far.

Just remembered that Yamaha released Jonas Folger from the test role last weekend..

Lorenzo to Yamaha as test rider for 2020 then a race seat in 2021? Possibly replacing Rossi?

Zarco to Repsol Honda for 2020.

Really don't see why he doesn't jump on a satellite Ducati. He'd probably beat Dovi. Perhaps this is not a smart career move to get factory rides in the future.

That doesn’t follow any logic. Rossi returned in 2013, Lorenzo went to Ducati in 2017 and he won the title in 2015, so hardly running at the back after Rossi’s return.

My view. Lorenzo is a amazing rider. i'm not a fan of him personally.
But he's gone to one of the best teams and bikes in the past 5 plus years and even before his crash he did not gel with the bike. I doubt yamaha or Ducati will want him with all the new young talent coming through the ranks.

Does he want a satellite bike and "maybe" get into the top 5 or even 3.

I was thinking he may retire this year how things have not been going his way

I hope JM gets a factory Ducati and JL gets his ride, then Zarco to Repsol, the other Marquez is going to need a ride somewhere though, has Taka got a deal for next year?

Alex Marquez is staying in moto2.

Nakagami’s already signed to LCR for 2020.

What a great bloke, nice heartfelt conference.

Good luck to him with moving on.

Hopefully he'll be seen again in some team/mentor/manager/advisory role.

Indeed.

On his day and on a bike he trusted probably the fastest ever with metronomic pace regularity. Amazing to see each lap within fractions of the next.

Hope he finds happiness and fulfillment in whatever comes next.

feel a bit bad for him as his troubles seemed to start with being run off the track by marquez.
Is he the only rider so far to interrupt the marquez train of consecutive titles?
