Your biking highlight of 2019
Discussion
1200 mile solo trip around Scotlands Highlands.
Was dubious about doing it by myself at first but after the 1st day I found it so much more liberating. Ride at any pace you like, which in my case was slow enough to enjoy the scenery, but fast enough to enjoy. Stop to take photos any time you want. Stop for food anywhere and anytime without feeling you are holding the group up.
And weirdly enough, sitting in a pub enjoying a few beers by yourself, you begin to interact with other people instead of just sitting with your group going over what near death experience you all had that day.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I've done the same trip probably a dozen times but this was the first time I got to enjoy the spectacular scenery instead of focusing on a 190 section tyre in front

Two highlights this year. Getting my new Kawasaki H2 SX SE in March, then riding it to The Dolomites for a week there with the Old Gits.
Quite a few in our group fancy riding a few passes next year so we're heading down to the Dolomites. I'll pop over to your site nearer the time for a few ride out tips Two highlights for me too. My brother got back into biking this year so riding with him again after a bla bla bla year break was fantastic. Second was taking a little detour on our way back from Gdansk to nip into Denmark and ride over the Great Belt bridge. Absolutely fantastic.
I had another good year of riding .. I did another trip to Eastern Europe and the highlight of the trip was visiting these 2 places ..
The Buzludzha monument in Bulgaria and the Željava Air Base in Croatia .. I loved wandering around them ..
I was very lucky with the weather ..5100 miles in just under 4 weeks and only about 45 mins of rain ..

2019 highlight?
Riding a bike in Texas this May with an ungodly 1,015 bhp. Owned by a guy with a 2,500 acre ranch he rides mad-bhp Quads around. His custom quads have upwards of 800 bhp but the bike in question was just pure insanity on 2 wheels. Ten litres of big block Chevvy, starting out as a Boss Hoss 502 in 2004. The (lack of) handling and brakes made finishing any ride still breathing an achievement of sorts.
But the sheer stomach-churning, neck muscle-destroying acceleration of that thing should have come with a health warning. 20 mph to 150 mph in one gear in 8 seconds. 2 speed automatic. It was addictive, even though it felt like someone had simply bolted a seat and pegs onto a wheeled rocket.
That sounds awesome!! Any photos or videos we can see of it? Riding a bike in Texas this May with an ungodly 1,015 bhp. Owned by a guy with a 2,500 acre ranch he rides mad-bhp Quads around. Must be utterly useless in real terms but I bet it will be a hard experience to beat!
Some lovely highlights mentioned this year, well done guys/gals, we only live once and we are soon old, then gone. If i am allowed a 2nd highlight it has to be 3 and a bit weeks of biking (2014 GSXR 750) in the USA this summer. We took in San Francisco to San Diego westwards and Denver and El Paso eastwards. Almost 5,500 miles of riding including some belting roads like Highway 2 (Angeles Crest, WHAT a route) and many empty deserted rural roads we did silly speeds on. Fun fun fun as the mighty Beach Boys wrote.

First time on a Harley, riding down the US west coast from Portland to LA in September with my wife. Beautiful scenery, great roads, and a few days off from the real world. Not that keen on the bike, though!
I road the slightly smaller street glide from La to Vegas via the national parks in 2018. 1600 miles in 6 days and was epic. The bike for the trip was amazing, would I buy in the UK "no". but it was ideal for my trip. Only real negative daily was the massive weight. My highlight was riding from Lhasa in Tibet to Everest base camp and back.
Organised via a local company called Tibet Moto run by a German married to a Tibetan lady, I would highly recommend it. I booked an 800GS but someone stacked it on the previous tour so I got their newest 1200GS - bonus. I would do an organised tour again.
I'll upload a couple of pics later when I've re-sized them.
The other highlight was getting a Triumph Scrambler 1200XE. I only got that last month, it's not even run in yet as I've been moving house and haven't much chance to ride. It's a lovely thing. My 2016 1200GS just made riding in the UK a bit too easy so I felt a naked bike was the way forward. Roll on next year and getting some miles done.

BSB at Cadwell in September, as I haven't made enough of an effort to go watch the racing...
Also taking the Africa Twin offroad for the first time, and promptly binning it. Still, I know a lot more about it having had to strip some of it and replace the parts I'd broken, and it was really quite fun.

Losing two and a half stone, so I could finally fit into some leathers I purchased a couple of years back, tried selling them twice without much luck, so a result in the end
Apart from that every time i took the LC out and smoked everyone out who followed me (that's plumes not speed) was fun.

Have a road trip to York in a couple of weeks.
Plenty of good roads and pubs round here, sing out if you want any recommendations For me, I’ve been really too busy to ride much at all. Still, replacing the rear suspension and front brakes on the NC30 really made me appreciate how good a bike it still is when I did get to take it out.
