One dealer was doing the 790 Duke for £7K for Black Friday.

Cant see that any one else has mentioned the Aprilia Shiver 900, there maybe something that I am not knowing about this bike which puts people off, but I have owned this bike since March, and at first I was put off by the top heavy weight, however I have got used to it now, and I really like it.

LCD screen, goes and sounds well, very comfortable and handles very well. Not had a single issue with it, and all for £6500!!

Worth looking at in my opinion

I like the way the shiver looks. And I’m fond of rarer bikes, I can forgive a lot for something different.

I loved my Aprilia Pegaso Strada that I used to commute on, nothing went wrong, far more fun than 50 bhp had any right to be.

I've had a couple of Aprilia Moto 6.5s, they were fun nand very quirky, but not enough oomph ultimately.

Loved my Aprillia Schiver 750. It had the same power as the later 900 just without the emissions guff.

Handled well, was really comfy and had a lively v twin sound. I had to ring its neck everywhere when riding with litre bikes but that made it all the better.

It was the 1st ever bike to have rider models as well, it Just needed an extra 20bhp to be a really great road bike for not a lot of cash. Think mine was £2750 and was in perfect condition on 12k or so miles.

Being 6ft 4in it also felt substantial to be on. In fact it was very close to the MT10 in size and riding position.

SV650S and Bandit 650 were two best commuter I have ever own, plenty of low end usable power, comfortable and even new rider friendly. Reliable as a work horse, just very dull. Should also consider the XSR700/900 as well if you like retro styling, currently have the 700 easy to ride and quite comfortable, bulletproof too.
Have try Honda hornet and not a fan of the high reving engine for daily commuting, low end power relatively weak, and I know a lot of rider recommend Ducati monster...after owning the mutlistrada 1100 and S2R...I am not sure I would want another Ducati unless there are significant quality improvement

Thanks for all the suggestions. Many bikes suggested would have fitted the bill. BUT i have found the bike i want and am buying it at cheap winter price today.
I wonder if anyone can guess what this upright naked bike is!
Quirky. Virtually never seen on the UK roads. Over 1000cc. Built from 2004-2016. Any guesses?

Good shout, but it's Italian and not 4 cylinders as another clue!
