Gears are ace. Even in London traffic. So much more control and involvement in the actual art of riding.
We can, and do, have that argument with autos used in manual mode in cars. Around the twisty back lanes yesterday, I was in manual mode, mostly in 3rd (of 8). Many top bikes have a sport/auto transmission. The only issue I recall riders having is doing a sharp u-turn, and not being able to slip the clutch - I don’t know if that issue still exists.
