Passed mod 1 today and no minors. Very pleased about that.

When's your Mod 2 booked for?

Congrats to everyone who has passed recently. It’s turning into a great little thread, reading about how everyone is getting on. It’s nice to see some positivity! Apols for the lack of contributions since Monday. I’ve gone and made a big jump and bought a Kawasaki Z900RS as my first bike. Love the looks of it and although I’ve only only managed one ride since I picked it up, I think it’s an awesome bit of kit.
You're spot on - this is a great thread for people learning and us newbies.

As for your new Z900RS....WE NEED PICS !!!!!

Agreed I like reading about people’s experiences of their mod 1 and mod 2 training and passes and also the ones who like me needed to go again….and again….maybe this thread can be merged into one mod 1/mod 2 experiences something like that

Thoroughly enjoying this thread too. Really interesting to read how everyone is getting on.

I passed my bike test at the end of last year and the advice/encouragement was really helpful for me.

Today I've been (mostly) practicing trail braking taking advantage of quiet roads close to and on Woodhead bypass. I find taking g advantage of the quietness helped alot.

I'm 2 weeks shy of the year since I passed my mod2 smile

When you guys passed your MOD2, did your instructor tell you to ride back to the training school yourself taking the long way back?

Mine did, great feeling when you pass and you make your own way home biggrin

My instructor took us for a bacon butty and a brew as a treat for passing. He let me lead the way to a place of my choosing and just followed along with no directions etc. It was the best part of the day!

Here is a pic of me collecting the bike from the dealers. Not stopped at any interesting spots to get more pics yet. Can’t wait to finish the break in period.

When you pass lets discuss some good stuff that I've been learning since mod2?

Trail braking, how to ride in crosswinds, etc? I've learnt loads of extra stuff since.

Watching motorcyclist crash vids on YouTube really helped too.
I would be interested to hear about that. I do plan to do further training.

I used trail braking on track a lot in cars.
If you're thinking about further training I can highly recommend https://i2imca.com/ (others are available of course). Really good course and lots of good skills.

Whatever you do though, I think it's a good thing to think of yourself as a complete novice for long enough to get over the Dunning-Kruger hump.

I’ve really enjoyed the limited rides I’ve had so far. I don’t have anything to reference it against other than the MT07 I learned on but I’m pleased with my decision to buy it

Good luck for the 14th Caddyshack.

I'm also in the ordered-before-passing boat. Ordered a new Triumph on the way back from passing my theory test! biglaugh

It spurs me on to get it done.

Out of the 3 of us doing Mod 1 together all 3 had bikes ready to go. 2 of us had 125s

I've had an ER6 in the shed since last August, having passed last week.

Though the bike was sat for a while when I bought it, and I think the time passing has meant the fuel has gone "off" as it'll cut out when warm. This weekends job is to drain it off and treat it to some super duper unleaded and some injector cleaner in the hope it sorts it. I wasn't too bothered by it, but now I'm allowed to ride it, it's killing me hehe

Good luck to anyone that has tests coming up. The nice weather is just around the corner smile

Yes, will be the fuel - it goes off really quickly now.

I think you will get away without the injector cleaner but it cannot hurt.
