I’m getting my first morning with them booked. They obviously need to give me guidance on how best to progress. Plus I’m gagging to get on a big bike MT07).

Congrats guys on the 2 x Mod 2s and the Theory Test pass. clap

I had ‘the call’ earlier this week to say my Trident would be ready to collect this weekend. Off to a demo day on Sunday to test ride a Speed Twin 900, then collecting and driving back from the test ride on my new bike. Excited!!!
Cool, get some pics up when it arrives

Pleased to say I sat my Mod 2 this morning and despite torrential downpours from the off I passed with zero minors first time! smile

Good luck to all of you with upcoming tests, stay calm and collected and you'll smash it ready for some summer fun clap
Yey, where did you do yours?

I passed my MOD 2 this morning as well (burgess hill in pouring rain) First time and one minor (left indicator on after the road side stop - I had problems cancelling on the ride there so should have double pressed it).
Congratulations!

Passing with zero minor faults is top notch stuff well done.

I did about 150 miles on the bike yesterday and know I left the indicators on at least once.

Quick slightly off topic question! So far I’ve bought all three of my bikes having not been able to ride them first.

Now I have my full license will a bike dealer/retailer let me test ride a bike? Only looking at something small like a G310r, no superbike stuff!

If you are near Guildford speak to Will at vines, he is happy to think longer term about customer relationships than quick hit sales.

Im approaching three years since I started biking (I think) and really recommend you to get something bigger than that.

Cb500 or cb650r kind of size would be much better as you will want the power.

If you want to experience low power you could restrict some 94bhp bikes but having worked my way from 125cc 500 650 and now on 1000 I’d say just get 650cc

As they say they have bought 3 bikes already and cannot ride I assumed they may already have a big bike? My mate just bought a g310 to commute to work on, he has just passed and has a 955i Daytona as his big bike. He said the g310 is great fun to rag the nuts off.

Thanks for the thoughts, I genuinely just want a small displacement light bike like the 310 to ride at 10/10ths to enjoy the road craft, I’m not in the slightest bit interested in big bikes. I also want something simple maintain too as I’ll be commuting on it as well.

The question wasn’t really ‘what’ bike, it was more if a dealer would be happy for me to test ride with such a recent license pass? (Today, going to have a look at a few bits tomorrow possibly dependant on weather)

What pisses me off about dealers is their upselling. I went to BMW intent on a G310 and at 6ft2 it felt great. The dealer said straight away 'you need a 1250GS etc as the small bike is just a small thumper and you need a BIG BIKE.

Please don't listen to a dealers recommendations. Full stop. There are probably some good blokes out there in bike shops but honestly I've not met them in the year that I've passed so far.

One classic was hi my PX is on 15k 'oh sir at that mileage it'll be quite worn so I'll give you a low price'. Erm you do realise your bike is on 3k more mileage so that's even more worn out?

Ergo don't assume they are there to ensure you are on the best bike for you. It's worse than cars.

You’re a full license holder now mate. Go for it.

I was apprehensive on my first test ride, just a week or so after passing. The dealer knew I’d only just passed (and about my 2 x failed Mod 1s LoL) however he just gave me the keys, showed me the controls and said he didn’t want me to feel pressured, so turned around and went back into the dealership, leaving me to sort myself out. Very understanding smile

Perfect, that’s what I was getting at really, didn’t know if they would still be a bit wary of letting me out on something, irrespective of cc. Appreciate not all business will have the same outlook, but good to know there’s some possibility smile

I hear you, I’ve been in the trade all my life (accident repair side), so have dealt with many a shoddy salesman (although I have worked with some very good ones tbh)

I make my own decisions and do plenty of my own research so steer clear of the usual tactics

Yes, vines said I could take out the gs1250 straight after my pass. I didn’t ask about the 1000RR but a pass is a pass…it’s down to the rider not to twist the throttle….I guess?

If you've passed you already have experience of a middleweight bike, so why shouldn't you testride one?

I was at my local dealer (where I'd trained) at 9am the following morning and said to the salesguy "I passed my test yesterday" Oh well done " And I'd like to buy a motorbike please" No problem! smile Within 20 mins we'd discussed a few options and I was out on an FZS600.

Anyway, congrats to all the recent passes, get a bike bought and get out on two wheels, on your own! biggrin

Had my first ever proper ride out today, about 100 miles. I went past Bahnstormers on the A272 and one of the guys from 44 teeth drove past in his 996 911 (GT3 kit). I think he may live near there?

Really enjoyed the freedom of being out on my own and learning how to handle the RS660.

One newbie question: I sometimes get a burning sensation across my shoulders when riding this and other bikes - is this just being tense or that I am 49 yrs old?

Vines Guilford wanted a £200 deposit to test ride the g310r that was refundable just after I passed.in the end as I was broke I bought a 600cc 2001 Fazer and it's been pretty solid so far
