Hi Guys, thought i'd post an update to this, passed my Mod 2 earlier, same examiner too, felt a lot more confident this time though, less nervous, had a great lesson last Saturday (even though it was on a crappy Keyway 125 as the 650 Gladius was off the road), great lesson thismorning before the test so I was in a much better frame of mind, all done though, going to take my GSXR600 round local streets to get used to it.
Awesome!
Well done mate, enjoy the freedom smile

Apparently common at the centre in Glasgow that I’m about to use for MOD 2, as the examiner doesn’t have the use of one of his arms any more so can’t ride.
If it's the same guy I had, he had a really serious accident on a bike - not his fault - someone pulled out to overtake and straight into him. Fair play to him. He's got a decent sense of humour - when I got back, asked me how I thought I'd done. I said okay, but - and outlined a few things. He said they were fine, but what about leaving my indicator on for half a mile. My heart sank and I looked at my instructor who shook his head - then they both burst out laughing and the examiner shook my hand and said I'd done fine and proceeded to go through the minors (I hadn't left the indicator on).

Yeah that’s grim, poor guy. He did my MOD1 test. I ended up getting another guy for my MOD2 who wasn’t local who then ended up taking me on a route I hadn’t really practiced on. Typical. This instructor also drove a car on the test!

Oops! Lovely bike these! Saw one at Newlands Corner a few weeks back.

Is that a rear brake lever??

Looks like a decompression lever to me.

Was it laying on it's side? tongue out

If you've just dinged a lever you got off quite lightly smile

Good work! What year is the GSXR?
It's a 2004, orange/black 23,000 miles and full Suzuki service history, was last serviced in 2018 and only 400 miles since, nice bits, tinted double bubble screen, hugger, R&G frame sliders, Akraprovic can, nice levers, tail tidy, it's immaculate, looks like it's been someones baby most of it's life, got it from the dealer Victor Devine in Glasgow .

Congrats on the pass, sounds like a great examiner. Mine was a miserable bd that sounded like he'd never heard or told a joke in his life!

Take it easy out there and enjoy, a fun summer beckons biggrin

Just reading these comments after failing a mod 2 3 hours ago for a stalled slow motion drop at an uphill T junction...finished licking my wounds and rebooked for a couple of weeks down the road...so glad to hear I’m not alone in my cock up!!! Cheers!!!👍👊

Well done for rebooking. Notch it up to experience and carry on.

I dropped my bike (first drop after riding for 7 years) minutes after attending an IAM slow riding skills day. I spent a few hours being told not to use the front brake during low speed manoeuvres, and what do I do minutes later as I'm turning the bike around to go home?... Grab the front and down it went hehe

That must be a recent update to the test that dropping a bike is an immediate fail?

My ex-misses dropped her bike on her test and still passed because she dropped it, and picked it up safely.

Wonder if you'd already clocked up enough minors that this broke the bank and the examiner had to fail you?

Not sure mate? It went down as a ‘major’ for me?

I'm surprised she passed as I think dropping a bike would be a major fail!

Mate i will just start by saying.. It doesnt matter if you have had your driving licence for 50 years, your riding a bike now - its a TOTALLY different game, its not a given that just because you have a driving licence and can drive trucks that your going to be able to jump on a bike and be remotely anywhere NEAR an average standard let alone a decent standard.

My advice would be flog that gsxr and get something like fazer or mt07, if you dont have any sort of history riding bikes then starting off on a gsxr isnt a bright idea. I bought an fzr600 for my first bike but in fairness iv been riding bikes since i was a kid, just take your time mate.

Theres a great youtube channel called "motojitsu" watch a load of them, take it in - practice practice practice!

Good Luck, let us know how you get on and when you pass!

Duuuuude, on my CBT, first time out on the road I pulled out of the test centre and rode straight flat into the wall on the opposite side of the road. Up over the pavement. Fell off.

Target fixation to the maaaax. Don't worry. There will be a next time. You didn't come this far to be put off by that now did you?

Also....that CCM Is well lush. smile

Better to get it out the way now on a test bike than do it in a couple of years on a bike you like.
