Mcn London show - discount?
Discussion
Looking at heading to the show on Friday. Haven’t been before, is it. Good day?
I’d like to see the new tiger 900 and looking at new helmets. taking wife and baby.
Any discount codes around? £18 ticket plus probably same again to park is enough to put me off to be honest. It’ll be £100 day without even trying.

I've been a couple of times but it's not worth the money in my opinion by the time you factor parking/travel/ticket price. It's also very small so check out what's there first to avoid being disappointed. I'm more tempted to go to the mountain bike show but the prices of mountain bikes are as bad as motorbikes nowadays. The world has gone mad !!
Can't help with the discount code but £18 is the advance price if you buy up until tomorrow. It goes up to £25 on the door.
I'm going on Saturday with the wife as she got me a couple of tickets at Xmas. Like others have said, it's not huge (far smaller than NEC) but if you set your expectations, it's still a decent day out.
My advice would be don't go expecting the bargain of the century as prices are probably just comparable to buying online normally, and also don't go expecting to see specific bikes as it is likely manufacturers will have to prioritise the range they bring due to small stands. If you want to see a specific bike, just go to your local dealer.
With that in mind, it's a day out to look at bikes, listen to great stories and have a couple of pints whilst wondering around.
Oh, and the Excel is a pain to get to.

We’re going on the Sunday. Tickets were £18 in advance. We’ve also found parking near the excel (couple mins walk away) on one of those parking websites where people sell driveway space etc.. £7 for the day. Does sound like quite a small show from what people are saying but looks like Ducati are bringing the whole range by the looks of it
I work in London so I decided to take Friday afternoon off and pop into the Excel show.
It seemed pretty quiet so hopefully for the organisers it was busier at the weekend.
I was quite surprised at the entry fee of £23 which seemed like a complete rip-off. I'm always quite astonished that organisers of these events managed to pull off this feat of charging buyers to come into an event to meet a range of sellers who have paid to be there.
Most of MCN's money must come from selling the stand space and support services for the vendors and the success will always be based on the footfall of buyers. A £23 fee to come in and look at sales stands must put off a lot of attendees. I'm quite surprised they don't make it free entry or a much lower entry cost so that the exhibitors get a much higher attendance.
I have been quite a few times in the past but always had free tickets and I had no idea it cost this much if you paid to get in. Could have got free tickets as usual this year if I'd thought about it earlier but only decided to go on the day.
And I spent £1500 with vendors when I was in there though and picked up some things I had been planning to buy for a while from some very friendly and helpful suppliers. So I'm glad I went but did feel a bit ripped off TBH.

I went yesterday, I agree, the entry cost is too high, and ridiculous if you wanted to add on the “paddock” seating for the racing. Which was ok but not all that.
Used to be the case that you could get bargains at shows but no more. Sealey has a great-looking hydraulic lift on display which I was quite interested in at the “special show price only” of £475. Until I checked on eBay and that same item is generally available from other sellers, not on “special offer”, at £450....
Also, Helmet City had a carbon X-Lite for the “special show price” reduced from £470-odd to £250. Again I was tempted but they didn’t have my size there. Back home, checked online, it’s only £20 dearer plus free delivery and returns and you don’t have to lug it home from the show. Probably costs them £20 to courier it so they’re evens.
Lesson learnt.

I've went around 3-4 times in a row and it just got smaller and it's value just got worst because of it, It's okay maybe the first or second time but then it becomes samey. Most of the deals as mentioned can be matched online there was the occasional great deal there but it was on only a handful of things.
I actually saved £350 overall on three different products so was very happy. Friend who went with me asked about a paddock stand which was up for £60, on ebay they are £50 so asked if they would sell at the same price. The trader said no because it cost them £3000 to be at the show. I bet he enjoyed carrying it back to his van in the rain at the end of the show.
I had an enjoyable afternoon there on Saturday. Felt a little smaller and quieter than last year, still lots of decent stuff to pore over.
I’ll be buying a new bike this year, updating my 600 sports bike, wasn’t really sure what I wanted so it was ideal.
MV Superveloce looked incredible, wanted to see the standard model but they only had the Serie Oro, simply looks too good to ride on the road. I’d probably feel the same about the standard one.
Sat on the new Fireblade, such a fierce riding position (and I’ve happily toured on my CBR600RR), beautifully put together though, too extreme (and too good) for me.
Liked the limited edition CB1100 RS 5Four, had a very interesting chat with the designer.
BMW S1000RR was impressive but not very inspiring, perhaps that was partly the battleship grey paint.
Triumph had a great stand, Daytona Moto2 is lovely, but I was really taken by the retro stuff.
So I went there leaning towards a new sports bike, saw loads of options, had a couple of pints, and came away thinking I’ll keep the old CBR600RR and buy a Speed Twin.
Also stumbled across a Q&A session with some road racing legends, Hillier, Hickman, Rutter and McGuiness. Some good questions with considered answers but only about 50-60 people attending, think they could have promoted that better. Was amusing to see McGuiness’ wry smile as Hickman casually explained how he can go faster but only if he needs to.
All in all I felt £23 wasn’t too bad, it can cost £15 to go to the cinema.

I went on Saturday, first show for years. Very easy to get there from 'up north', parked at Redhill for £6, tube and DLR, no problem.
BUT I was expecting a lot of smaller dealers selling spares & bits, I found one! Just a LOT of helmets and clothing mainly.
Anyone who likes working on / modifying / building bikes would be very disappointed.
We really enjoyed the stage chats and seeing the Sheene collection.

I went for the first time on Sunday and whilst yes it's definitely smaller than the NEC show, i thought overall it was pretty good. Spent 4hrs also, time to wander around in full, try on a few bits and whilst it got busy it wasn't so rammed you got pissed off at the crowds. Plenty of chance to sit on any of the bikes.
I ended up buying a CCM!
