Long time ago to compare to my first one , so recollection may be skewed, but all the memories came flooding back, rides really well, use it a lot during the summer, never fails to raise a smile.
Obviously suspension and brakes are modern and improve what was originally fitted, engine is fit and pulls as they should. Classic allspeed pipes (modern copies) bring the 80's sound back.
And actually i say a couple of years, but its approaching 5 now, have a trick ccm supermoto too, but that's nit been started since I've had the LC.
My original 80's LC

MY CCM

Moto Guzzi V9. Barely knew the brand at all. Went to the bike show at the NEC and saw one from a distance. Sat on it and it was a done deal. Bought it brand new just before Xmas.

Speed Triple. I’d spent most of the 90s upto 2009 on sportsbikes a break of nearly 10 years was broken by the delivery of a Honda Africa Twin. Super cheap PCP deal (£40 per month) was incentive enough to get me back on 2 wheels. The AT isn’t the most inspiring of machines & will struggle to get your under crackers smouldering. Got shut after about a year and moved onto the Triumph. I like the styling, build quality, the badge. It’s a grown ups bike? I enjoy riding it without the urge to go daft, this was a big part of the draw of owning a naked bike. I contemplated getting rid as I don’t use it much as I should but it’s such a lovely object & docile enough that I don’t quite have to be on my A-game every time I take it out. I’ll keep it and hopefully get more miles in the bag in 2020. I’m pretty certain it’ll be the last bike I’ll own, either I’ll part with it or we’ll grow old gracefully.

Yamaha MT10, always liked the look of the bike as soon as it came out. I spent 25 years + riding sportsbikes and various adventure bikes, gave up sportsbikes as age crept up on me, the Multistrada was an amazing bike for miles and comfort, does everything well but the MT10 is just a mad bike, awesome engine and looks (my opinion) with a decat and pipe it sounds as mad as it goes, you definitely need to be careful with it but one of the best bikes i have had in over 25 years.

350 EXC as I wanted to have fun but slow down a lot (from previous S1000RR)
XT 225 as I wanted to have fun but slow down to a walking pace (from previous S1000RR)

But I want another S1000RR

1998 R1. I knew history of it as a mate owned it for a few years, then I arranged him to sell it to another mate.

After a year backpacking & getting married an email catch up suggested he wanted a 600 instead as it was a bit intimidating on track. I transferred the money and said I’d pick it up in a few months when I landed so I can genuinely say I bought it in a cafe in Koh Samui.

Now owned it for 13 years and it’s been everywhere in Europe & used for everything from commuter to weekend toy to bikey hols and trackday hack. It’s always desperate for a service and nice tyres. Now banned from selling it by the wife as I’ll regret it apparently.

I've come back to biking after 20 years.
I decided on a Honda VFR 800 because I'm tall, but wanted something manageable for basically a novice again - and didn't want anything I'd need to wring it's neck to have some fun.
I'm in my mid forties and have spent the last 25 years scrabbling round on concrete floors on my knees for work and I wasn't sure how I'd go on with being perched on a supersports. Also there seems to be old fart mods like raised bars and lowered pegs easily available for this, so I thought I would be covered if I found it uncomfortable, which fortunately I haven't.
I also wondered about pissing off for a week on it solo, and this one came with panniers, so that's a few quid saved.
But when I was young I never had a bike with a fairing, whereas my mates all did (Yes, money was the issue) and I always liked the look of these, they came out just when I'd stopped riding, but still took an interest in bikes, so they still look super-modern in my (time machine) opinion.
But I mainly bought it because of the colour - Candy Glory Red sounds like the name for a Japanese porn star.

First road bike in 10 years. Bought a Ducati 999. Why? I rode one 15 years ago and was impressed with everything about it. I live in an area with low police presence, amazing roads & high speed limits. Saw one for sale at a dealer for a very reasonable price, and that was that.

BMW R1200GS, no picture because everyone knows what they look like.
I convinced myself that it would make me feel like Charley & Ewan when nipping down to Tesco.

And I was right, if I do use if for that purpose I feel like a twonk

I ride a S1000R.

I love the riding position, after riding sports bikes and always feeling uncomfortable and cramped. I have fairly wide shoulders and poor mobility (especially for life savers) and always felt it was a struggle for me on sports bikes.

The S1000R is almost perfect for me and I can ride it comfortably for long periods, I also felt immediately at home with it on the test ride and love the performance, it’s also very happy bumbling around at low revs in the town where it spends 90% of its life but then has good power to overtake. It’ also got a quick shifter, heated grips and the factory akra setup sounds great. I would like a decat after hearing one of them which sounded wild!

For my use supernakeds are ideal and I’d love to ride both the new Ducati and Kawasaki supernakeds this year!

Genuine question as someone who struggles, if you have poor mobility how do you manually move such a heavy bike around?

Sorry when I say poor mobility, I mean my ability to be flexible or twist limbs/neck into positions others seem to do without problem. So when I’m riding a sports bike and leaning forward in a tucked in position I struggle to do things like look rearward over my shoulder. Strength wise, I’m 5’11/15.5 stone and very physically active and don’t find the bikes (200kg) difficult to move around.

Interesting to read all the stories.

I wanted a Ducati pretty badly, I just love all things Italian. I wanted one bike that could kind of do it all and bought a Supersport S in October. It's not perfect but I think I'm going to have lots of fun with it. Maybe in the future a two bike garage would have a Panigale and then something much more road / comfort orientated for day to day.

Because I just like it. Suspension is quite st as standard, and the quality is a bit pared back in places, but it makes a great noise (should be better as I've just got an Akra exhaust for it).

I was going to get rid of it because of its shortcomings, but I think I'm going to plough a bit more into improving the suspension (Nitron cartridges and rear damper) and enjoy it properly, I think..
