Loud Bikes or quiet
Discussion
A little while back one of the guys that worked for me discovered motorbikes. Mid 40s, you know the story.
He also discovered moto-vlogging and had a few videos of his own up on YouTube.
At the time he was riding an XSR700 and during one of his vlogs he commented that having a quieter exhaust made him feel – and I quote – “less of a man”. Really.
Nowadays he runs a Tuono and a Dorsudoro, both with un-baffled Akrapovich systems.
Can’t think why.

well done you have just butt fuc@@@ your own argument.
Have I? Why what's my argument? Clutching at straws a bit now aren't you? Yes indeed, "likes the sound but cares not one not for those who don't". Why is the person who doesn't like the sound right and one who does like it automatically wrong? Or or are you just that arrogant you decide that your opinion on everything has to be taken as gospel and adhered to? well done you have just butt fuc@@@ your own argument.
The point I was actually making was; not everyone puts an aftermarket exhaust on for the sole purpose of being an attention we. I spent £1000s on my bike last year restoring it, and pretty much the only company that still offered a brand new can of what I consider decent quality, and in a design that suits the age of bike, was Yoshimura. So that's what I bought. After trying it with and without the baffle, I decided I preferred it without. None of that thought process was devoted to "ooh I wonder how many people will look", I don't actually give a st. Also, nor do I care whether you're "offended" by the noise either. Do you live your entire life making sure every preference you make is what other people may like? Pretty boring that.
It's a big wide world out there with lots of noisy things on the go, get yourself some earplugs and protect your delicate ears from all the naughty nasty sounds.

There's that word again. Why is there this obsession that people think aftermarket exhausts are only fitted for "attention". Could it not be that the owner likes the look or sound?
This thread is the gift that keeps on giving.Line 1 of the opening post of this thread.

Because you choose your exhaust, hundreds of folks should put ear plugs in where you ride ? How is that a fair situation ?
(irony is the fking rider wears earplugs anyway. Wind noise, natch)

I bought Aftershockz headphones after the recommendations on PH. Use them daily and can still hear traffic coming etc. Great devices. I can hear what I like, and do not interfere with anyone else. Great things
What is your point?
(and stop fking snooping around on PH'er to generate personal sneers)

That is a disingenuous - It is firmly believed that you have trawled through 4 months of my posts to find something you feel contentious and in a tit-for-tat method to discount my view point in THIS thread and debate,
That behaviour is not very community spirited or what I'd hope for or expect from a PH community / member.
To be short - very uncool and stty behaviour. Please refrain from it.

Really?? Community spirited? On a thread where I (amongst others) have been branded "council", an "attention seeker", that I have no respect for others, oh and "selfish" with a "fetish for pissing other people off" . Despite not knowing me, my lifestyle, my circumstances or indeed what my own bike actually sounds like or how loud it is. To be short - very uncool and stty behaviour. Please refrain from it.
There's more "community spirit" amongst cannibalistic chimps than there is on Pistonheads!! .

I think this thread illustrates the problem.
It's fairly clear that legislation will gradually come in that at best will put limits on bikes, and at worst will ban it them together. But people seem to double down rather than work towards a positive outcome.
It's actually worse than that. The legislation to handle loud bikes is already there, it's just not enforced. As a result, the stock answer to legislation that's not enforced is to create even stricter legislation. The "fk you" brigade continue ignoring the now stricter legislation while those who try not to ps off just about everyone else are now screwed even more until, eventually, motorcycling as a whole is banned. It's fairly clear that legislation will gradually come in that at best will put limits on bikes, and at worst will ban it them together. But people seem to double down rather than work towards a positive outcome.
The new legislation in Austria and Germany demonstrate that perfectly.

Not a joke, just odd that people who supposedly enjoy loud exhausts then use earplugs which stops them from "enjoying" the sound of their loud exhaust.
Ever been on a bike? The loudest noise is the wind by far. If they're not then it means the rider hears a muted rumble and everybody within a quarter-mile has to put up with the unfiltered noise.
