I passed my mod one today, stalled on first test during the slow walk last month ffs. Was the same examiner today and he remembered me.
I had three lessons for 3 hrs each at 120 before they said time for a test. I did book a bonus day prior to first test as I had holiday to burn and weather was nice as time. So due to failing then I’m looking at 850 all in but could have easily. Been nearer 600 if I hadn’t have had that double session day. But it was a fun day 1-2-1 and covered loads of miles.
Mod two in a week or two depending on cancellations from other fails.
BMW motorad do that rookie to rider scheme for 600 ish and your not forced to buy from them at the end

Just passed my MOD2 Today. £800 total including cbt 5 half day sessions and the two tests. It’s south east london and currently can’t get a test or lessons for love nor money as they are all booked up till December. So thought it was ok value.
£70 to assess you is taking the piss.
Congratulations, what bike are you getting/got?£70 to assess you is taking the piss.
I overpaid for mine but the school were good, I like the instructors and they are the only show in town with tests available. Even if I had to drive 60 miles for both mod one attempts.
Apparently mod two are easy to book comparatively in West Yorkshire

Not sure which bike I will end up with. Want to try a few. Looking for fun with occasional touring and commuting.I overpaid for mine but the school were good, I like the instructors and they are the only show in town with tests available. Even if I had to drive 60 miles for both mod one attempts.

I learnt on a Z650, which was a great bike to learn on, but was terrible at motorway speeds ( the wind buffet at 70mph wasn't fun). I wouldn't want to do my commuting route on it. Also felt a bit down on power to get to 70 (though made my car feel slow).
I don't like adventure bikes, so that kind of leaves me with sports bikes (the only ones I like the appearance of).
Instructors have recommended a Tracer 900 as a middle ground or a Ninja 1000sx. Was surprised as they are 115hp and 140hp respectively but their opinion is if you have the self control and sensible its fine.
Also tempted by the new RS660 and a Ducati SuperSport (if they updated it with a cornering IMU and a TFT screen I would have bitten their hand off already). So going to try a few out and see.
I was toying with a z650. I have to admit I will see how I get on with the route to mod 2.
Last time I went on A1 during a lesson I felt like I was almost being blown off the bike At 75 ish when using the clutch (i.e reduced grip whilst pulling in clutch for gear change) With hindsight I was just thinking it was my memory playing tricks.
Is that what u mean by wind buffeting?
