Wrong Street Rod, I suspect.
Those figures are for the latest Street Rod, all previous versions were even less powered. No replacement for displacement. The Rebel would feel like a rocket ship by comparison bimsb6 said:
The honda has a massive 86 bhp lol
The Honda does not have a v twin engine, it uses the same engine as in the Africa models. This is why a 800cc cruiser motorbike is a slow pig, but a 800cc naked/sports bike will get you to double illegal speeds in no time at all, hence why the Rebel can achieve the same performance figures at 1100cc as a traditional v twin Harley at higher ccs. It also weighs significantly lessgareth_r said:

Looks better in the 2nd pic , first one looks like some shed built thing featured in awol magazine , still wouldn’t give up my harleys for one and doubt it would out perform my streetrod .
Street Rod: 47ft/lb at 4000, 750cc. 0 to 60 4.5 secondsRebel: 72ft/lb at 4750, 1100cc. 0 to 60 3.4 seconds
The later V-Rods had 125bhp and were a bit lighter...just enough to see off the Suzuki in some road tests Top Trump competitions

Its riptrips wk material ,.The Sportster S is even less a direct competitor to the Rebel 1100 than the S1000RR is to the ZX6R and nobody thinks they're in the same market
not having ridden it, I'd suggest the closest rival currently is the Indian FTR
gareth_r said:
The Sportster S is aimed at the Indian Scout, not at the FTR.
With a bit of luck they'll introduce a road-legal interpretation of the Harley flat track racer as an FTR rival.
I think it's somewhere between, the sportster s is not setup as a cruiser but the scout really is.With a bit of luck they'll introduce a road-legal interpretation of the Harley flat track racer as an FTR rival.
The guys around the Indian forums are comparing it to the FTR as the weight/performance suspension setup/seating position etc place it far more in like with that then the scout even if the styling is more heritage.

Yesterday you seemed confused as to what a streetrod actually was now you’re an expert ?
Nice try but no, not confused. The latest street rod is 750cc, how was I supposed to know that guy has the much older model and for some reason was commenting that his old model is more powerful than the brand new Rebel 1100?
Now someone else is throwing the V Rod into the mix because the M109 beats the street rod no problem. And to that I say, Triumph Rocket 3. Game over thanks for playing
And talking about wk material, its Harley that names all their bikes to sound like sex toys. Anyone for a quick Night Rod?

Okay, for those who can't see the numbers:
0-62 mph 4.1 sec
0-124 mph 18.5 sec
Tested in german magazine Motorrad.
I'm rather surprised myself, but comparing it to a Street Rod it is probably correct. The Street Rod does 0-124 mph in 14.5 sec. Looking at the weight numbers we see that the Street Rod weighs 628lbs and the M109 weighs 767lbs filled up with gas, oil and water. The hp for the Street Rod and the M109 is the same, but the M109 weighs 22% more. The difference in acceleration is ~27% so it looks pretty correct, even though a time around 17.5 sec is probably possible.

nobody whos bothered by top trumps buys a Harley
Basically this. The V-Rod being the exception, but it is about as un-Harley as you can choose from the Harley range, the engine was designed by Porsche for a start. Porsche is so proud of it it even has its own section on their website:nobody whos bothered by top trumps buys a Harley

It isn't regarded as a true HD motorcycle by HD fans and why would it be? It looks nothing like any other HD model then or now and had alien stylistic choices like a fake fuel tank. Water cooled with DOHC's, all the things HD fanboys used to call 'Metric design'.
Cruisers aren't known for high performance but if you did want a high performance 'muscle' cruiser, Triumph has it covered with the Rocket 3, with one or 2 offerings from Suzuki, Honda and Yam. Such as the Stratoliner or VTX1800.
