Took advantage of a decent weather forecast and quiet Welsh roads. 250 miles trip out to the coast.

It's addictive isn't it. I recommend Mitas E07+ for the rear, lots of grip on and off-road, and wears way better than a TKC80. I have a TKC80 on the front for extra grip off-road, as that's the one wheel you don't want sliding, and front wear is minimal.

Those bikes look great. What are they?

My friend's KTM 1290 Adventure R, my Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro, and my other friend's old BMW GS.

Before I order them I will try to extract the remnant with an easyout. I have a bit of experience with such things, so I am not hopeful. laugh

That looks like a colossal ball ache, good luck! [goes off to check the same connection on his 749....]

Be careful. If it doesn’t move under considerable force, don’t go harder, as you may start a crack where my part failed completely. If this then fails complete when you are riding then that could hurt. I‘m a skinny old man, and I snapped mine with a normal spanner, no extension was used.

It won't come out with an easyout.
The answer is heat, and lots of it.
I suspect you are right, lots of heat and aluminum worries me though.
True, it’s way to melt. I’d try it in the oven at full whack first, then an electric heat gun, and if that doesn’t work carefully with a blowtorch but ally melts fast!

Went out for a ride this evening, got a bit lost, and covered in bugs.

Keeping on the adventure bike theme, I had a mate who took his KTM 1190 Adventure to an enduro track recently!
He is a great riding and I could on just keep with him with me on my Husky TE250i
Amazingly capable bikes
Only thing that seemed to cause it issues were sections with whoops

Got some decent pictures from the day

...heavy landings too!
Spectacular to see though as I was following him

Best way is to weld a nut on the end of the inner steel section, let it cool completely, then it'll likely wind straight out.

Will try that first. I REALLY appreciate the advice guys.

The best way to describe KTMs 11&1290 is "it's like riding an insane donkey on speed"

Bloody addictive and massively grin inducing.

I had a day with Rapid Training today, the weather was pretty wet for the morning but brightened up after a bit of lunch in Finchingfield. Despite the conditions I had a great day, in a strange way the pissing rain probably helped with smoothing things out and making progress with getting things to flow. I would recommend it to anyone, it's really helped with my reading of the road, getting the more visibility, looking further ahead and overtaking. I'm carrying a better pace now and more confident on roads I don't know so well, I was a lot smoother and quicker on the a507 on the way home than I was on the way there and that was after a while day riding.

Good to hear, I've got two days booked in June and I'm really looking forward to it!

You'll have a great time, I got a lot out of it and will probably try and do another bespoke with them later in the year.

200 miles on the new bike to get to know it a bit.
I'm gobsmacked how it's still comparable to today's bikes for the road.
Such a load of fun.
