I have been a member of PH for over a year and contributed to various subjects, and started new posts which have had numerous replies, so I must have done something right.

I have just logged on to make a reply in the “ Boris Blowjob” discussion, to have a notice telling me I have to have made 1000 posts to qualify to post ! Really ?

So fk off PH, I will delete you wkers from my apps, bunch of tossers !

You only have to re-post that message another 693 times, and then you'll be able to contribute to NP&E.

My mate had the 50cc version in 1990 when we were just gob stey spotty oiks… I had a Honda NS125F at the time. He was a big lad and looked like a circus bear riding the comically small peddle bike laugh

Great memories though.. Getting our independence aged 16/17 with our own transport was such a brilliant time..

Meanwhile... 35°C is like riding in an oven.

When I had my vfr1200 we did a 3k mile week around Germany in the middle of a heatwave. Great wind protection and high temperatures are a poor mix!
It got proper hot in towns too.
Funny, I've found that it does a good job of channeling the heat away from the rider. In comparison to my previous 954 Blade, which used to jet heat onto my thighs.

It may just be that the temps were up to 40c at one point, and I’m Scottish so not really built for summer!
I was having to regularly take my feet off the pegs to get into better airflow because the soles of my boots were heating up, my mate was on a fire blade and was melting too.
We essentially rode between ice cream and water stops!
Towns were no fun at all.

I want to scratch that tourer itch either the Honda or R1200 RT.

An older *cheaper one should still be reliable? So it'd enable me to run *two bikes....

Most bikes are reliable until age and neglect get them, a 10 year old bike from Honda or bmw that’s been looked after shouldn’t really give you any issues unless there’s known faults, but you can check for them when buying.

I loved my VFR, sold it in 2014 because I just couldn’t stop speeding on it. The wind protection and feel of the bike made doing very bad speeds feel like it was a sensible thing to do.
Essentially it was too polished for my lack of self control.

The triumph Explorer that replaced it has a tiny screen for the same reason, and I still have the it 7 years on.

A well looked after, properly serviced Honda or BMW should be fine reliability wise. There will be the known issues which will need to be checked and budgeted for but beyond those, there shouldn't be anything to be concerned about.

With the BMW especaillay, make sure you check the suspension carefully. The suspension on BMW tourers was always way too soft and under damped for my liking and age will have done nothing to improve that.

I see, so guilty of being a pasty Scot thumbup

... however, anything beyond 36°C is really, really pushing it.

Went out for an hour on the ninja after changing the brakes as it's officially not fking Baltic here anymore with a force nine gale.

They were fking awesome once I scrubbed the pads in, it stops as good a modern bike now. Still felt like there was a bit of air in the lines so bled it and even washed the thing.
