Was put away dirty end of last season as my riding was cut short. Wheeled her out for a clean and a quick once over as the weather is starting to pick up. Will get the Supercorsas taken off and some Rosso IV put on for now, keep the SCs for when it's warmer.
Honestly, could look at it all day just sitting there.
Phwoar. Really tempted to one next year.Honestly, could look at it all day just sitting there.

Looks great...on my MV Brutale I changed from SC to Rosso IV a few years back and havnt gone back to the SC, last season put another Rosso on. I really couldn't tell the difference on the road other than they last nearly twice as long and work for all the temps I ride in.Honestly, could look at it all day just sitting there.

Dunlop Sportsmart TT’s really suit them too. I won’t go back to SC’s now. Honestly, could look at it all day just sitting there.

Out of interest how long do the Rosso IVs last in terms of miles?
I got about 3300 out of the last rear and front is still on after 5k miles ish, will need a new front this year. I was getting 1000-1200 out of a rear SC prior to that and putting 2-3 on per season became a PITA Krikkit said:

Rears last around 2,000 to 2,500 miles. Fronts, double that. As bogie says, about twice as long as a Supercorsa SP, which this bike eats in about 1,200 miles tops. Rosso IV is a decent tyre. Dry performance is great. Supercorsa is better when it's bone dry and toasty but we're talking margins when it comes to road riding. To be honest, I think a Rosso IV would do me fine even on track.
It's their cold / wet weather performance that makes them so versatile. Though probably not as "all-round" as something like a Road 6. And I'm fine with that, riding is purely a hobby for me, so I don't need peak performance in all conditions.
I've already got a half-worn Rosso IV, so I'll just get a rear and run them until they're done. And the Supercorsa rear that's currently on it has plenty of life and I've got a new front sat in the garage. Once I've gone through that lot, I might try something else.
Some of my lot swear by S22s, so maybe give those a try. Pilot Power and Power GP are also good in my experience.

Went out for second green laning trip on my DT175… broke a piston ring on way :-( At least it broke on the road and not in a ditch miles from nowhere!
Bit of an odd thing to happen unless it's been rebored/ported and someone's left a sharp edge on a port or not left enough bridge, has it just had a top end refresh? Bore knackered too? Went arenacross Saturday. Great show really good atmosphere
Swerved the London bike show despite getting free tickets and glad I did. Every person I know who went said it was too small, did the whole thing in an hour and was about £25-30 to park
Got back about 1am then back up at 7am to go Mx...was blowing out my arse tbh but had a great day on track and felt like my old self by the afternoon having some right bag banging against others
Definitely getting out on the Aprilia next weekend long as they don't grit. All the showers have nicely washed the salt away. Can't be dealing with riding and your tyres look like chalk

Bit of the ring missing so cases need spliting.
Bore is scored.
I have genuine NOS first oversize piston and rings (+0.25mm) but thinking the rebore may need to do be bigger than that.

Unbeknown to me, the piston I bought didnt have the correct correct ring peg spacing so the ring turned, snagged the port and she spat the pieces of ring out of the exhaust. Worth checking for the peg spacing as well, something ive never had to be concerned about previously.
No genuine pistons are available for the YSR past 0.25 so its aftermarket or modified only.
Like you, I spilt the cases to be certain no pieces remained in the cases, glad I did anyway, as the crank was very worn.
Im sure the 175 will have better spares availability anyway, good to see one being used as intended, please pop some pics up next time your out on it.

First ride out of the year for me today on the other halfs 600 Bandit.
What a cracking little bike, I can see why they are so popular, felt surprisingly brisk at the top end but it takes a while to get those revs up, which is perfect for the Mrs.
Brakes and (squigy)suspension match the performance, shes a bit soft and wallowly but its never out of hand.
Certainly handles its weight a lot better than the last 1200 Bandit I rode.
Seat is unbelievably comfy as was the bar position, can easy cover some miles on one of these.
State of the roads its about right most of the time TBH.
Swapped with my friend for a blat on his GSR600, made for a great comparison between the old carb’d air cooled lump and a newer GSXR based 600 with FI and a set of aftermarket exhausts.
The GSR was altogether a bit naughtier a thing, brakes and handling(it has a nitron shock and re-worked forks mind) much quicker/composed.
Spun up quicker and far more powerful as you would imagine.
Was great to be back in the saddle.
