New R1300GS delivered Wednesday but weather was dismal until Saturday morning. I never set out to cover a big distance for the maiden journey but managed 250 miles from Northants to Benson on the Thames, then on to Caffeine & Machine and home.

Overall the 1300 is as I have come to expect an evolution over the outgoing 1250. Lots of areas are significantly better and a few only marginally better. A few tweaks needed as the gear lever is set too low so the strain gauge on the QS interrupts the fuel and ignition if you so much as brush the lever. I kissed the screen a few times yesterday. It is without doubt a GS as within a mile or two it felt like it was already my bike if that makes sense. The all black theme matches my car now too.

Took a ride to test Cardo and satnag app. The gadgets may have let me down, but my nose found a lighthouse:

And another Injun wink. Charidee run this morning - good cause and all that - then I went for a proper run after since the sun was out for a change. I’d thought I’d used the Chief a few times since last year, but given the clock didn’t need changing then I guess I hadn’t had it fired-up since the clocks went back eek In my defence I was definitely out in the oldies pretty frequently.

Got my (CRF450RL) tool kit sorted from the other thread. It has everything I need for minor fixes, plus I'll have a few lighter things in a back pack (tow strap, first aid kit, saw, fuses etc. I decided in the end that I won't carry stuff to take the wheels off, I'll just use zip ties to get me to somewhere I can call the AA. hehe I'm sh!t at getting tyres on and off anyway, even in the garage, let alone in the forest. So this is just for daily rides, not multi-day trips.

It all fits nicely in here, and isn't too heavy
I like this! I'm putting together/verifying a toolkit for my crf 250 at the moment. I added in an extension so I can just about get the front wheel 69Nm spindle off. I've got tyre irons too but have yet to try the whole tyre removal lark! I have a spare wheel so I really should be practicing on it... Soon!

Out with wife and daughter most of the day at the local country park. Had a lovely time, and at the ice cream stop on the way back, I was offered an evening off! FireBlade out the garage and off we went!

They had a winter sale where everything was massively discounted, so I paid arou d £200 for the stickers - but it was an extra £80 import, VAT and clearance fees.

New to me bike for the Summer, mates think it's an April Fools after riding conventional bikes for 53 years but fancied a change after 10 yrs on the street triple which has been great even if polished more than ridden, (will be on well known auction site soon), looking forward to a European trip in the Summer and all the 'tricycle' comments biglaugh

Managed an overnight trip to the Welsh coast on the Multi. Weather mixed and roads still iffy, but good fun.

This is the best pic I got yesterday morning. It was lovely when I left home (Belper) at 8am. I hadn’t considered mist. Which was bl00dy horrible to ride in. Outer visor was completely obscured, and terrible general visibility.

Anyway. Buxton Spoons!

I take it the front end is no wider than the panniers? All of a sudden it seems to make sense...
