Just back from a quick return trip to southern France: Portsmouth to Caen ferry last Friday night & then a 10 hour D road trip to see family, doing the same in reverse on Weds, back home yesterday.
By some way the longest trips I've done and also lost my ferry cherry - it was epic. I've driven cars in France quite a bit, but am always amazed by how empty the roads are once you're a short distance away from the big cities.
Got lovely dry roads for the whole trip (apart from some of the UK bits).
Each to their own of course, but I never understand those who say they take autoroutes to get out of 'boring' northern France asap when doing a European trip, there's fun to be had within 10 minutes of the ferry port - maybe Caen is better in that respect than Calais or others though...
The GSA was the perfect tool for the job (for me) - loads of fun, endless comfort, effortless speed, 300 mile tank range, heated everything (the weather was bloody cold), luggage capacity to spare. Very happy.
Well done on the trip! There's nothing as good as a Euro-tour on your bike. By some way the longest trips I've done and also lost my ferry cherry - it was epic. Great picture...still my fave SuperNaked...
Cheers for that. I have to agree and say that it is my favourite super naked too. I did try the new Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS but felt it had lost some of the older version's character. So this is what replaced my 2017 Speed Triple R. And I absolutely love it!!!podman said:
Popped to the Super Sausage for lunch , got chatting to the owners of these XSR replica's, ive seen them at the bike show but in the flesh, I thought the aesthetics quite an impressive homage to the originals.
LC felt marvelous to be out on again.
Love the LC. Not sure why I chose a Honda VF400r over that and the YPVS back in the day.LC felt marvelous to be out on again.

My mate has one of those Bryan.LC felt marvelous to be out on again.
Friday was new bike day.... Obviously it has rained almost constantly since then, except for a few sweet hours yesterday
The initial plan was for an adventure/touring bike but a change in my work circumstances has essentially reduced my commute to next to nothing, so I thought that something smaller/nimbler was in mind. Second bike, having previously had an MT-09 Tracer since passing my test in July 22.
Better weather, please!

What was the v2 like at the top of the revs…did it just diesel flat line like the twin in the hyper?I‘d still be thrilled to have one, so no real criticism from me. Another plus is the decent seat height for me, I’m 5‘9“ and it was perfect… the Mono was a little tall… and I sat on the Desert X - holy crap!
