Got my (CRF450RL) tool kit sorted from the other thread. It has everything I need for minor fixes, plus I'll have a few lighter things in a back pack (tow strap, first aid kit, saw, fuses etc. I decided in the end that I won't carry stuff to take the wheels off, I'll just use zip ties to get me to somewhere I can call the AA. I'm sh!t at getting tyres on and off anyway, even in the garage, let alone in the forest. So this is just for daily rides, not multi-day trips.
Unless your 'extreme tape' is heat resistant you could add some metal 'cable tie' thingies (like used on car CV boots) and/or some lockwire in case it's something exhaust-wise that needs secured where plastic ties will melt. And a wee bar of that 'kneed-together' plastic metal stuff for fuel leaks and the like.Discendo Discimus said:
What year is your SD GT? Mine is a 2017 and I'd like to do the same to mine.
Any thoughts on the quality of the kit after installing?
Mine's a 2016.Any thoughts on the quality of the kit after installing?
The kit is brilliant quality, I can stress that enough. The only bit I did not like the fitment of was the little silver belly pan wings - but I wanted to paint mine matt black anyways without any other graphics so that worked out well. I think the stickers of silver looks a bit naff - although thats not really anything with the kit.
Also start with all the easy panels first to get a feel for it. I went in a little hot and did the right side of the tank early on and wish I waited until I had a better "feel" for it - I have a small bubble or two. The front mudguard is the bd however.

If you didn't do it this time, next time you get that involved it's worth pulling the hub out to clean it all. Otherwise dirt and stuff gets in there and makes it harder and harder to adjust the chain. By the time it gets difficult it's a hassle of a job so better to do it periodically.I assume it's got an aftermarket exhaust? Mine had the standard and it had a hinged joint in it so you could remove the wheel by swinging the exhaust out of the way. Quite convenient, but would have looked better if they'd put the exhaust on the other side...
First priority is 9am Tuesday, will it pass the MOT.
I know all about the rear hub, it is high on my list, along with the two front downpipes and a full service... Parts are ordered. :-)
