Reliable, plugs onto the battery and isn't £300! I've noticed some on amazon for sub £40 but does that mean a crap signal strength?

A cheap GPS tracker can be blocked easily enough just by putting in a shipping container. The more expensive vehicle trackers use other technology as well to overcome the limitations of GPS.

I have what was called a tracker Nano on my car, battery operated about the size of a really small matchbox, just stick it on somewhere out the way , register it and thats it. Its only active if you tell them the car/bike is stolen. It came "free" with my car insurance, they are about £250 to buy yourself

If you want one thats insurance approved you may have to go with a known and tested provider.

Waste of time fitting a cheap one, if you really want to get the bike back you need something decent such as a biketrack with RF tracking etc also needs to be fitted properly not just sat under the seat or tail unit etc.

They were but my understanding is that due to people using them to track others property, your Iphone will alert you if someone else's tag is travelling with you - assuming the thieves have iphones

OP, why do you want a cheap tracker? Worst of both worlds isn't it i.e. you'll know your bike has been nicked but won't be able to track it down?

Not something I’d bother with unless my bike was pretty unique and rather special.

I HAD to have one to get insurance on the H2, didnt want one at all but it wasn't possible to get insurance without one.

The dealer supplied, for £200 an Oxford Vantage Tracker, which I thought was a very good price.

First 3 months subs are free, then you can either pay £120 for a year or £250 for 3 years.

I did a year as im hoping that I can get cover next year without it.

That said, now I have it, I do quite like it, the extras on the app such as the trip function, battery health (battery draw appears to be very small, the bike starts despite being left idle a few weeks at a time and other functions have been genuinely useful...So I may just keep it anyway.

I have a drivepro.io on mine. It was about £65 quid for the tracker and 1year sub. Updates every second.

Gives you an annoying score for each ride. If you are out, out it will nag you that you are about to kill yourself... i.e. excessive speeding etc when only slightly over the limit officer.

I have a Monimoto. Pluses, it’s very simple, fit and forget. It’s been faultless so far and still on the original batteries as it uses very little power when it’s dormant. The phone app let’s you know once a day it’s working. It works as I found out the one time I rode off without the dongle in my pocket. Phoned me repeatedly with locations until I got back and sorted. Yearly cost is very low and you can link multiple units if you have more than one bike.

Minuses, it’s self fit, depending on the bike it’s not that easy to hide. A professional would be able to find it and dump it. It doesn’t appear to be recognised by insurance companies as a security device. It only warns you through your phone.

My car tracker is a professionally fitted Vodafone unit, a lot more expensive but with all the back up you’d expect. Horses for courses

Overall very happy with the Monimoto

Biketrac do a finance option where the cost of the unit & install is spread over 12 months along with the subscription.

I think it's £39 p/m for the first 12 months then £9.99 p/m subscription afterwards.

I have one on mine and find the features useful along with the prospect of either Securitas or Police recovery should it get nicked.

Tracker is a bit like a dashcam in that you should never go for a cheap one.
You don't realise why it's cheap until you need it and find out it wasn't worth a penny.

I hear good things about Monimoto.

But I can recommend Biketrack, expensive yes, but really great product and service.
