According to British Superbikes website, a team is using the GSXR750R in British Supersport this year.
That's a bit of an unfair advantage i would wager
From what I can see in the rules they can include pretty much anything under the 'Supersport Next Generation Machines' category within the Supersport series. That's a bit of an unfair advantage i would wager
They have an approved parts list and one of the mandatory things is a fully fly by wire throttle. It says in the rules that the organisers can make changes at any time to ensure a level playing field (words to that effect).
The 750 is still in the spirit of the rules so I guess thats why they will allow it but I bet they will be careful not to let it run away.

See Richard Cooper has signed up to ride in the new BMW 900 twin support class .
That's him won that then.
Yeah. He’s getting quite a bit of stick for that on social media. I sort of get it but at the same time, he’s got a career to build on. If he can win that, it’s another championship on his CV and it’s by no means a certainty. That's him won that then.

If he was running himself as a private entry to keep his career going, I’d say fair play to himBut…. he’s being run by the richest team in the sport by some margin, and a team that has two stock1000 rides available after both their riders left paid/free rides there to go to teams they’re both having to pay for themselves (which possibly says a lot about FHO too)
I think people are unhappy with FHO, not Coops himself
I can see why it was all kept a big secret until now as I genuinely think there’s a fair few people that now wish they’d not bought into what was basically sold as a club series with a few big name wildcards, and that top prize money is now further out of reach. It’s also a class they’ve struggled to fill and is only about 50% full anyway
On the positive, it’ll give a few of the faster youngsters a tow

Call me cynical but maybe the organisers wanted a good rider to come in and provide a pantomime villain for the series, gives the younger riders someone to aim at and the fans someone to gripe about

However, there's dropping down a class, and then there's winning a stock1000 race in 22, and two podiums in SS600 in 22 and dropping down to basically the lowest class in BSB which is a class that was sold as a good stepping stone for club racers to get into the BSB paddock
Like I said above, I can see why BSB/BMW kept this until the last minute to make it public (although it's been known for a few months now, but never confirmed) as it'd put a lot of people off knowing they're only gonna come second at best
For the spectacle for BSB and drawing crowds in, again, I think this will damage that as he'll make the class look very mediocre
They'd have been better off doing the big ish name wildcards like Rutter or Stalker (I'd love to see Mcguinness on one, but his contract with Honda probably won't allow him to ride a BMW)
This isn't anything against Coops, as it's a good chance for him for some easy prize money, it's more a really poor reflection on FHO when they could have easily run him in Stk1000 where he's got a really strong chance of winning a proper championship for them
They've effectively brought a gun to a knife fight

It's a crying shame he's not in Stock 1000. He turned up and smashed them last year.
Agreed.Big fan of Coops and stk1k just worked for him

I guess if you can't get enough sponsorship do you spend your own money on a uncompetitive bike or put the same money into a lower spec class but a really good package .
In a way the series now has a good reference rider. If anyone is able to beat coops they are worthy of a good ride in ssp.Abdul Abulbul Amir said:

Christ is that a factory BMW Haslam is on? Some ride that…
Assume he'll be on a GS at his age. Mind you, if pre season form is anything to go by, he could be right up th front end of the championship......Scott Redding's replacement next year anyone?
Especially after Redding's display of punching the tank and swearing recently
