You're more likely to be mugged now than the showdown.
You can get 105 points in the last round alone
Well there is that but it could also end up being like Leon Camier in 2009 and someone cleans up before the last three rounds of the year

The way it works looks like this.

Normal points awarded for every round except for the final 3 rounds.
18-16-14-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

The first 2 rounds of the final 3 rounds points will rise as follows.
25-22-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

For the final round ONLY the following points will be awarded.
35-30-27-24-22-20-18-16-14-12-10-8-6-4-2
I never liked the showdown format - that sounds like an improvement but we won't know for sure until next year!

The best way to decide a series is to have the same amount of points for all rounds. Simple. It's all trying to create excitement, and the risk the best rider might not win. It's a version of 'play offs'.....Simply not needed.

I agree with you, i've never liked the showdown format but they needed to do something to keep the fans interested after Camier's dominance in 2009 and that wasn't his fault, he was just better than everyone else.

I can see why BSB do it, as like you say, Camier’s domination made the end of the season boring

OMG announcing Ryde’s team mate 23rd of this month apparently.

Oh and FHO are the official BMW supported team for BSB and the roads for 2023

I have never liked Showdown, for all sorts of reasons, I understand why it is done, especially when Shaky was dominating and winning it 3 or 4 meetings before the end, but there are better ways of making it exciting.

I don't like totally ignoring the rest of the field, I think that is hugely disrespectful to teams and riders, and a rider can easily have an amazing end of year like Hicky did and perhaps sneak 4 or 5 standings places, doesn't mean much, but to be dumped out of it seems pointless.

As a format it is pretty much not adopted anywhere other than NASCAR, and that is about as false as motorsport gets in reality, so it is time to go for me, but MSV own it and want more revenue at year end guaranteed and probably have the attendance data to show it works, the ya re the money men and money talks, that is why it stays.

It was a kneejerk reaction from one year, completely not needed and now they've done it again after losing lots of contenders in the 1st part of the showdown.
No other series use it, there's a reason why, its ste.

Have high hopes for Tb and Christian next year.

I like it. Once the winners have been decided I lose a bit of interest so understand why they have it.

Ray would have won it this year regardless of the showdown anyway.

Girlfriend randomly booked tickets for Saturday at Thruxton last night.
First time ever seeing live bikes for her.

Never been to Thruxton but the misses has never been to see Superbikes either, thinking either Snetterton, Donington or Cadwell

Me neither. Been to donington and there’s a few good viewing spots there.

Thruxton’s the favourite of a lot of riders, but it’s not great for spectating as you can only watch from around 25% of the track - it’s only 30 mins from us, so it’s my favourite round of the year
The last chicane is the best place to watch from in my opinion

The last chicane is the best place to watch from in my opinion
It’s just under an hour from where we’ll be living by then too.
Final chicane was where I had in mind too.

Plus get a seat in the grandstand and no need to get there early.

Downside is its always fking freezing in the grandstand even on a sunny day.
