I had an rd 200 then rd 400 then rd350lc when I was about 19 ( all well used and cheap).
I could never afford the step up to ‘ one of those new fangled power valve ‘ engines !

Ah blast for the past. Im amazed there’s some still on the road.

I remember being a kid in the late 90s and early 2000s and lusting over Ducati 996 and 998s. This was the closest we kids could get.

I wanted one of these or an Aprilia RS 125. The Suzuki RG 125 had just gone out of production by then.
The TZR 125 and RG were the bikes the rich kids could only afford when I was 17…the Mito was spoken about but rarely seen.

There are actually a lot of MK1 and MK2 still around and most are being or have been restored…I had 4 Mito’s at one point.

My experiences exactly- I got my rd 200 on the road at 17 using a Haynes magazine - even used an old coat hanger to fix the clutch actuator mechanism as I had no cash - then Rich kid down the road gets a brand new rd125lc for his birthday ! Jealous !!
