Going to be nobody left in superstock at this rate
Looks like this is the future of BSB though and I’m all for it to be honest.
As someone mentioned above, they can only run this spec for one year and then have to step up to full superbike spec if they want to stay in BSB of course. I guess if it proves too expensive they could always step down to Superstock again but i doubt they would then get the Pathway option a second time but who knows. It's certainly going to make the series interesting next year, battles all over the place and if we get some nasty weather, who knows, maybe a Pathway bike could mix it up with the full on Superbikes.Looks like this is the future of BSB though and I’m all for it to be honest.
Didn't i read somewhere that at last years TT Hicky ran a Superstock engine in his Superbike chassis as it meant he could go all but flat out when he needed to whereas the full on Superbike he couldn't?
Often at the TT, rides choose to run a superstock engine in a superbike chassis, nature of the course dictates power is not everything at times.
In BSB I'd be interested to see how close a SS pathway bike could get lap time wise to a SB.
Weather conditions could indeed close the gap up enough to give some surprises.

if PBM continue into next year and beyond.
I haven’t listened to Chasin the Racing for a year now, but I did listen to the latest podcast with Jordan Bird and it’s definitely worth a listen, I was very impressed by her.But yes, going from what she said in there PBM definitely has a future next year and beyond.
Won't it depend on Ducati? Are they happy to be involved, and I assume financially too with a team where the owner, manager, basically everything important is now dead? Will they be happy with a 24 year old who has, I assume, no experience, running it?
And what about finances? Have you seen the accounts? Will Mr. B. snr. and his company take this as an opportunity to say - enough?

But would she say anything different publicly at that stage? Someone who has basically been given a caretaker manager's job that she probably never expected or wanted, at a moment's notice. A 24 year old woman with a new baby.

And you assume wrong; Jordan has been running the admin for years and so probably knows more about the business side of things than Paul did, and she's surrounded by very capable and well seasoned professionals.

She does appear to allude to the fact they’re staying But…. Ultimately, I guess that’ll all depend whether Bird Snr is prepared to reach into his pocket still for a couple of £m a year for it to be ran as what appeared to be effectively a toy for his son
Jordan came across really well in the interview though and the sport is much better with teams like PBM in it

I'm fairly sure i either read somewhete or heard somewhere - possibly from Birdy himself - that it isn't family money that runs PBM. Maybe in the beginning it might have been but it has to stand on it's own two feet, as a seperate entity not part of the family business.
That’s not what Jordan Bird said on Chasin the Racin, she said it couldn’t run without the sponsors, but also that her Grandfather provides funding FredericRobinson said:

He used BSB teams accounts that you can get from companies house, and it’s all there to see
The level of debt between the grandfathers company and PBM is scary big numbers
I really do hope they stay though as Jordan appears to be a really decent kid and I can see her taking that role by the horns

I think initially the company was run jointly by both brothers, but I think many years ago paul had less to do with the business and ran his team, they always managed to secure decent sponsors even as early as the Monstermob days in 2001 so I imagine that would cover some or most of the costs, but the bike purchases and leases would probably largely be down to him as his relationships with Ducati and others was so good after so many years of custom. but of course someone like Beer Monster would be bringing in a large chunk of this money.
PBM have a significant negative nett worth, most of which is money owed to Frank Bird personally or to one of his many businesses.
The upside is that Frank Birds businesses have a net worth of c£100,000,000 so should he choose to he can continue to support the activities of PBM for some time.
Info is on Companies House.

Putting something like £2,000,000 a year into the race team must sting a bit though
The rumour mill in the paddock currently is saying that Tommy has signed for Honda next year
That wouldn’t surprise me. I didn’t think that he was going to be retained by PBM regardless of wether he won the championship or not.The rumour mill in the paddock currently is saying that Tommy has signed for Honda next year
Ayel, Dean will be roads, McPint is off to Padgetts again.
Great should for Tommy, but he has had a long time on that Duke will find it a big learning curve but perhaps money is the main reason, cant blame him, I also think PBM have a love in with irwin, and he will have not wanted him there.
