I gave up biking

It lasted a week.
Last night I was thinking about all my bike gear and how little I'll get for it.
Then I noticed something on FB marketplace... So I messaged him... I met him today.
Seems I'm a biker again, £675 got me a no mot since last July, 43k 1992 rc36.
Runs really sweet, all electrics work, brakes, chain/sprockets, tyres and forks look like they have a 'pass' left in them.
I have noticed a bodged header pipe and not neatly fitted delkevic tail.
There are quite a few cable ties holding bodywork together.
I do quite like it and more importantly I fit in comfort.
Sooner or later I am going to have to tell her upstairs.

I keep looking at these as I have very fond memories of my old VFR750FM. (Same shape but different year and mine was red.) Sadly I replaced mine with a VFR800 which was possibly my biggest biking mistake as the 800 was crap.
I'm sure you'll enjoy this bike. The noise alone is worth having one for. I did quite a few miles on mine and the only issue was the starter clutch which apparently is quite common (although it came with stainless headers already fitted even though only seven years old when purchased). Whilst not the fastest thing out there at the time you could do the same speed all day, whereas we always found the guys on GSXRs etc got slower as the day wore on. The only downside I can think of is the way they can get through fuel with such a small tank. I could get mine down to 25mpg....although the grins afterwards made that worthwhile....
Well done, I think these have to become more desirable soon as there aren't many nice ones out there now and there's a lot of old men like me that remember them with fondness.

Some good info there, I've just bought (but not yet collected) a red N-plate (and I paid a lot more than Wayne!) - although it's not held together with cable ties.I'm sure you'll enjoy this bike. It was a while ago now. I think I normally filled up around 130 miles but after a "spirited ride" I'd fill up at 100. If yours is an N-plate it'll likely be an RC36-2 which has an extra half gallon tank capacity, so you'll likely get a bit more range (and hopefully you'll be more sensible than I was then!).How many miles would you expect to get to a tank?
I can say that back in the day these did an indicated 135mph in 5th gear.....I was trying to max it out, tucked behind the screen etc., and was disappointed it would only do 135mph. Slowed down to something less risky and realised I hadn't changed to sixth gear. No one has ever accused me of being clever!!! I didn't feel brave enough to go again to see what it would do. The following week it was reported that they had been trialling speed camaras on the road I was on....I still wonder if they got the nutter on the motorbike.
Two of the three speeding tickets I have received in my 35 year driving/riding life were on my VFR750 which I owned for four years....you have been warned. It is very easy to go fast on these.

I had a 1991 model (red with red seat and white wheels). Yeah wow around town it guzzled fuel like a car. Out on the highway it used hardly any. The greatest gap between city and highway fuel consumption of any vehicle I've owned by far.Jules was late home from Birmingham, train trouble...
