Anyone know what it is with the biker muppets who insist on driving everywhere full beam, even when it is bright and sunny during the day, am getting dazzled by these daft tw@ts

Driving down the A1M the other day, guy had dipped headlights, so moved over a bit for him to undertake me, no problems with that, but had 2-3 other guys on the drive northbound in the evening full beam. Got dazzled and basically could not be bothered to move out of their way, then they get all upset and insist on trying to see how close they can get to the rear bumper before overtaking.

Lastly, when at traffic lights,. by al means squeeze past and plonk yourselves in front of the cars, but try to accelerate fast, as car drivers also like to get along fast as well and having some biker barely going moped speeds does wind me up...

You're in the wrong section my travelling salesman friend.

This is FOR bikers not for people who hate them.

Start a thread in GG if you like - there's some people there who'd like you.

Are you sure the bikes are on full beam? Could be that under acceleration they just appear that way as the nose rises up. I am unable to switch the lights of on my GSXR, they're on all the time...

Another reason some riders do actually use full beam is so that the majority of plonker car drivers can actually see them

You are ASS-U-ming too much. Bikers are also car drivers and understand the problems of filtering past traffic as well as leaving enough space for bikes when in their cars......

What annoys me is ignorant/deliberate blocking by tinbox tossers. Do it to me and they will come off the worst. Why do you think that Bikers carry big security chains......

Used to ride a bike myself many years ago, but ater having the rain seep thru the "waterproof" clothes after a few hours and then having to change out of wet clothes on arrival, got the urge to try a car and that was 15 years or so ago...

dont hate bikers, just dont like what had thought was a small minority ?

Actually those that have full beam, i tend to move the rear view mirror so that I am not dazzled in the day, at night it automatically darkens itself, but not on a sunny day. Unfortunatley I cant then see the biker on full beam

Full beam for plonkers ? well almost right, full beam is great at night and on a deserted road, not in heavy traffic full of possibly tired car drivers

Bike chains ?, u seriously suggesting that you would use bike chains at speed to damage a car and risk getting caught up someplace, if had some biker hit my car with chains on purpose... well cars weigh several times what a bike does, one flick of the wrist the wrong way thru shock and no more biker. Do tell everyone that is a joke ?

Bikers on dipped beams, will always go out of my way to make way for in a safe manner, those on full beam tend to be ignored

Come on chaps , got to agree with you mate , dipped beam is plenty good enough , no need to piss other road users off with main beam , your likely to cause an accident through momentarily (SP?) blinding someone , its not too clever , plus a mate got pulled for it last weeks , and given a £30 fine for improper use of his lights .

The majority of bikers i see with main beams on are riding a dark bike wearing black leathers and a dark helmet. Is it not fairly obvious why people have trouble seeing them.

Also i find it very difficult to judge the speed of an approaching bike (or any vehicle) with main beams on. No idea why.

I bet he drives everywhere,in the middle lane, day or night with his fog lamps on, chatting on his phone whilst throwing fag-butts and Mars bar wrappers out of the window.

Typical biker !

I mostly use lane one and then when finished overtaking, drop back to lane one, none of this staying in lane 2 or 3 Although most bikers seem to have no problem in undertaking just to get somewhere faster...

Lights are on auto, fogs have to be manually switched on and they stay off unless foggy, when they get turned on, unlike some bikers who have full beam on 24/7 so they can be "seen". The point is that when am dazzled by someone on full beam, I do somethign to stop being dazzled. This means that I move the mirror so that I cant see the biker and hence his light. Do you honestly think that this is safer for the biker ?

Phone is plugged in, but on the floor. Dont use the phone when driving as it also means I cant be called to drive across town to do some "urgent" job

Smoking ? not interested, sweet wrappers go on the floor along with the cans of pepsi

Blimey....Lot of hormones on here today?! Personally, I would have thought dipped beams were enough. I used my full beams for the first time the other day as it was foggy in the morning....not to aid my view, but just for other's to see me. MOST bikers are also car drivers, and I wouldn't like the poster of this thread to go away, thinking all bikers are tossers and go out of his way to be awkward on the road, telling all of his mates along the way.
Consideration should be given on all sides, then we'll all be one happy family.....Apart from the tosser of a blue focus who knew damn well I was trying to overtake yesterday, but didn't think I had the balls to get through the 5mm gap he purposely left me....Could almost see him looking out of the corner of his eye maintaining the gap....Still, closed me eyes and went for it!
Any kids reading this, it's not big or clever....I am a professional!!

I use dipped beam myself. Although I've also got yellow headlight covers on the Duke which are legal and I'm told make me really stand-out in traffic. Also dipped beam on the Yam, no covers. I don't think full beam would improve visibility in daylight and will dazzle others at night, which I certainly wouldn't want.

I find making sure I have seen the car and putting myself in a none stupid position on the road works best for safety...

As lond as you aren't riding like you stole it there shouldn't be a need for full beam. IMO that is.

Have to say I agree with the original poster, it is irritating and (usually) unnecessary to ride with dipped beam.

However, after reading this and another I hate bikes thread this week, perhaps we should ask Ted for an 'Anti-biker banter' forum?
