What do you reckon it will cost?

I'd be very surprised if it was sub £30k

£37k with priority going to 999 owners (999s or 999r I think). Only 400 a year to be made, though they will be doing a watered-down version with a slightly more 999 look to it (for about £16k if memory serves well).

Very tempted. I had sworn off bikes after riding for 15-odd years, but I think I will swing by the Ducati dealer today.

My dealer has his allocation sold out. Probably just as well, I can see if there are any recalls/minor issues and then, if all's well, get on the list for 2008? Or I could call in some favours with people I know back at the factory, although I doubt that will help.

Bugger, wish I was getting one soon. The bike is just gorgeous...and 200 bhp...what's not to like??!

Tis indeed a bit of a looker, but to me its just too expensive for what it is.

I mean, you could buy yourself a GSXR1000 & send it down to Crescent for tweating & voila, a 200bhp bike for half the price of that Ducati.

Who'd dare track a bike at that price ? My money says 90% of buyers will never put a mile on it. Such a waste.

I think the V4 will find it`s way to the showrooms ...the ducati 998/999 series has reached the peak of it`s development...
I think we may also see some of the T.C systems developed in Moto GP coming our way...power and chassis deisign shortcomings aren`t really an issue now...

I`d keep any savings tucked away for a Honda V5 RCV road bike....surely it`s on the way ..
Isn`t the new Busa quoted in the 200bhp range...

Superbikes are already warp factor 5 now ...Downgear for around 160mph and grin as she comes up in the first 3/4 gears....

i think you are missing the point if you think you can compare a gsxr with a power comander and a pipe to this bike, this will be the pinicle of motorcycle enginering and in a diffrent world compared to jap 1000s. I think the only people who dont like this bike cant afford one.

I think the established order in Superbike racing is just about to get shaken up.
I doubt Ducati will need to beg for an extra 200cc if they turn up with a moto GP clone.

Well, that's like saying why buy a Carrera GT or Zonda when an Ultima can go just as fast. I know what I'd much rather have. It's not about the price.

I would certainly track it. And I would use it for everyday transport needs too, thought not quite every day.

Yup, for works of art, price is only an issue if you can't afford it.

I know it's a V4, completely agree it'll sound fantastic, and would love one but all these tweaked Ducati's DO sound like bags of spanners

I think the main issue is the dry clutch?

IIRC Ducati have said they won't race the Desmosedici in WSB, however once it's a production machine and therefore qualifies they may be tempted.

Plus it doesn't stop a 'privateer' from entering one......... yes
