I've seen plenty of in car video from the Nordschlieffe but very little "on bike" stuff
Helmet Dahne lapped in 7' 47" on a VFR750R (RC30) which makes a lot of very expensive cars look a bit silly.

The quality of the clip is pretty poor, the riding is something else again bow

Here is a video of a K1200S lapping the 'ring in 7:57. It's pretty quick, but you can tell there's still room for some improvement.

There was another K1200S vid elsewhere on PH a while back (can't find it at the mo). IIRC that one did it in 7:47 and matched the Porsche 996 GT3.

You've got to be a bit careful of how people are timing their laps.

Helmut Dahne's lap was from a standing start at the old public start (T13). Because you can no longer do a flying lap down the main straight most people quote their bridge to bridge time and then add 30 seconds for the bit between the two bridges. I get the idea the car boys are just quoting their bridge to bridge time and not adding the 30 seconds.

I can manage 8 mins flat bridge to bridge on a rattly old Firestorm but whether I quote 8 mins or 8 mins 30 secs depends on who I'm chatting to.

Jorund Seim (the guy doing the R1 vs GT3 clip) was a top dude but since his death at the Ring in 2002 (crashed on oil) his site was taken over by Ben Lovejoy's www.nurburgring.org.uk site.

I think the site is now down more than its up but give it a bash on

www.nurburgring.org.uk/joerund/index.html

you might even see me running out of petrol on my old VTR.

Best vid to learn the circuit in my opinion is Dahne vs a car racer dude on a ZX7 and a Schnitzer-modded BMW M3. Because they are both pros they run it very close and the view from the car is obviously flat with the bike 6 feet in front of the car doing a smooth very little braking sort of lap rather than the the normal sick making on-bike stuff.

Keep it safe over there.

Bren from Sliders has a 7'34" BTG on video that looks pretty impressive!
