Do we have moderators for BB?

Maybe we should change the title to Bully Bikers?

Is it me or are more and more cagers creeping into our little hollow to allow us to realise their feelings towards bikers in general.

BB has been a great forum for years with most users having a very mature attitude towards biking (track and road), other road users, public perception, etc.

BB is not full of the usual redneck throttle monkeys that most bike forums seem to have.

Can we please put a stop to this blatant stereo-typing? I couldn't give a flying donkey sh*t about what some bloke on some bike down some road may have done to someone driving a car. He wasn't me and I wasn't there, so as far as I am concerned the information provided in recent threads could be a complete fallacy.

Rant continues...........

Rants do seem to be flavour of the month on PH generally the past few weeks...

I think Dennis the menace is a mod.

If I was I'd have binned the little troll by now! I think I'd be trigger happy!

I think the answer is to not feed the trolls. (And I’m as guilty as any of being periodically sucked in to providing ‘troll feed’.)

I am not suggesting that we close down every thread that happens to have a small rant, but some of the recent stuff just seems to be people floating in, dropping off their crap, and expecting us to have an answer or excuse? WTF?

Agreed completely, but I would suggest that it normally takes a couple of pages of post to establish if it’s a genuine question/issue/opinion or just a troll. That’s the time to stop feeding if a troll is spotted.

Yes, I must admit I sometimes find myself suckered in to responding to posts that have been written by self-obsessed, big-headed prats. Unfortunately, they often turn out to be very low on intelligence and incapable of a decent, reasoned discussion. Or even of comprehending how others may not blindly agree with them. The result is that they start by repeating the same lame point and ignoring the ones they can't answer, to quickly descending into playground quality insults. The thread I think you are referring to was no exception to this, and the OP was simply so full of himself that he just couldn't accept that others didn't immediately bow to his "knowledge" rolleyes . I decided not to bother posting anymore because it was obvious I'd cornered him, and he was just repeating the same ridiculous argument - I got bored with the fool TBH, and he just wasn't worth anymore of my time.
We can all benefit from a bit of controversy and debate, providing the debate is with someone whose level of knowledge and intelligence is capable of supporting the debate. I think if someone is clearly a troll out to annoy and offend others, they should be blocked.

I wouldn't even suggest blocking, just being told to wind their neck in would be enough.

I'd agree in principle, but do you think even that would work with someone like the guy we're talking about. I think some people who are losing the debate and getting personal tend to get even more wound up if told to back-off. I'm only talking about blocking persistent offenders here mind, not one or two incidents. From what I've been hearing and have seen myself, we are talking about a persistent offender.

Or no - we aren't are we? We're talking generally here. So I'll try to stop recent events colour my opinion - I'll just get my coat paperbag

I feel as if i've been sucked into a thread which I should have let go (won't do it again), but as just started to get access to the net have only just started to be able to post on PH, however do support the site and would like to put my opinion into threads......

I'm glad you've brought this up, James (veetwin) - the aggro on a couple of recent threads has unbalanced my karma! wobble
This is a great site and the vast majority of posters seem to share the same passion and express it appropriately, with good ol' banter thrown in for good measure!
Perhaps in future if someone is rocking the boat in a thread, one of the regulars who recognises this could post a 'TROLL ALERT' or 'DO NOT FEED THE TROLL' message and hope that's enough to scare the miserable beastie away!
I like the happy land of BB and want to live here in peace and harmony for the rest of my . . . . ahem . . . sorry! spin

I think Denny must be away/busy right now, because he's usually on top of this stuff. There is the facility for banning people from thread/whole forums if needed - I hope it isn't.

Not bullying as such, just blatant trawling for reaction. A point of an argument is for two or more parties to clarify and justify their opinions, eventually ending in some sort of conclusion or mutual dis-agreement. These threads seem to be in groundhog day, the same content being washed around. The people in question allay their point and then refuse to look at any other angle on the matter and then start taking things personally.

Us quiet bikers just want to talk sh*t about wheelies, track days, knee down antics, newbie assistance, roadcraft, safety, equipment, etc.

The recent threads have been pushing us all on the defensive.

I enjoy both cars and bikes for what they give me in pleasure. I have been driving a car in the past and witnessed complete pillocks on bikes, but I don't come straight to BB to tell everyone just how bad the individual was riding.

BTW, Just in case, I wasn't questioning the moderators abilities!! PH has a very sensible level of moderation that most other sites could learn from. You don't want people taking the p*ss, on the other hand you don't want Big Brother looking over your shoulder either.

Let's just move on and talk bikes.

BB is the friendliest part of PH IMO. Suprising when you read biking forums like VD etc

The moderation is spot on in my eyes.
