Very nice job!

What's the deal with mx bikes for converting them to road use.. Do you have to get them SVA tested or is it just a case of applying for a reg?

I fancy a crf 450 supermoto but if it involves too much hassle, I'll probably get another 650 husaberg..

Do you think you could do a little guide on how you get it road legal. I wanted to do it with a KX but it seemed really difficult. Looks great mate

cheers for the coments. a dun the yz last year if a was to do it again it prob be a 4 stroke 450 a would do. eh all a dun was phoned the dvla main office ul get the number on the dvla website. they sent me a form it looked difficult 2 fill out but it was just basicly the info u find on a bike log book. then i had to insure it on the chissis number and get it mot'd (but a horn on it legal tyers and had to mess about with exhaust to try make it less noiesy). then took the form mot insurance and a think it was £45 fee to get rigisterd plus £15 for road tax. then they gave me a date for a week l8r to take the bike across for a boy to look it over. all he dun was took a pic off it check'd the engine and chissis number that was it ready to noies up the roads

I think he said:

Cheers for the comments. I registered the yz last year.

If I decided to do it again, it would probably be a 4 stroke 450.

All I had to do was phone the dvla main office (You'll get the number on the dvla website)

They sent me a form, it looked difficult to fill out but it was just basically the information that you normally find on a bike log book.

Then I had to insure it on the chassis number and get it mot'd

To do this, I put a horn and legal tyres on it and also had to mess about with exhaust to try to make it less noisy.

Then I took the form, mot, insurance and I think it was £45 fee to get registered plus £15 for road tax.

After that, they gave me a date for a week later to take the bike across for a boy to look it over. This person took a picture of the bike, checked the engine and chassis number that was it ready to "noise up the roads"

Thank you for the advice on registering the bike, I didn't realise it could be that easy.

The bike looks fantastic too! How easy is it to get insurance ?

Cheers!

Oh bless you, british bikers !
I just imagined driving a bike with NO lighting whatsoever to a german TÜV (our mot) station,
and causing multiple heart attacks for the "men in grey" (work coats) .
"Honestly, Herr Ingenieur, I will only drive it in daytime!"
I bet I would turn up in the papers the following day, as :
"Crazy two-wheeled tinkerer prevented from suicide !!" or so.
With all the rants going on about the state of your country,
sometimes maybe you don´t realize how good you got it in many ways,
and how much freedom, self-responsibility (and practical creativeness) you still can enjoy.
Cheers,
Benni

or does this law still come from the days
when Joe Lucas ruled the waves...eerrmmm....roads,
and riding in the dark had to be feared and avoided anyway...8-P???
