Going out to look at a Yamaha 600 Diversion in (literally) a few minutes (M reg, 17k miles, +/- £500 for a starter snotter).

What should I be checking, particularly on this bike? I'm taking a bike-savvy pal with me in any case.

Look for stuff that'll cost you money like condition of tyres, chain, brake disks (expensive) pads (not so expensive). Condition of bearings on steering head and swingarm. (Should be able to test them for free playnoise on the centre stand).

Exhausts are pricey so check for noise and rust.

Clutch - try and stall the bike. (Be careful not to drop it! Front brake firmly on!)

Engine noise and rattles and smokiness.

Length of MOT

I'm sure I've forgotten lots

ETA - Just read the time of the post so you've probably seen the bike already!!!!
