YAWN! ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Thought last outing was boring but this was worse. If next season is the same it wont be worth watching.

But with the close racing of the 990s, they also ran traction control.

This is purely down to tyres and the dominance of one rider, Stoner who is using the best bike and best tyres to obliterate the opposition.

Dull, very dull indeed.

Still, at least superbikes has proven slightly more interesting this year.

Believe me, when you put £50 on Stoner to be 2007 World Champion at the start of the year, every race is exciting biggrin

i turned it off after 10 laps, the highlight of what i saw was Pedrosas attempted tantrum after he crashed-and that wasnt anything special.

I'd agree with that in part. I think we are seeing a one-sided season because a brace of new rules were introduced. Remember the first year of the 990s? You couldn't see which way the Hondas went. I predict that next year will be much closer, the manufacturers will up their game (Honda and Yam especially) and Michelin will be seriously annoyed at the bitch slapping they have received and come out swinging...provided they don't take their ball home.

Agree with above, BUT, there isn't even any racing going on further down the field. What you see after first lap is pretty much what you see come the last.
Traction control means the rider can pretty much ride around with throttle wide open leaving it to electronics. One less skill involved. It's gonna kill it.

In the first 2 years of the 990`s there was occasions where huge slides out of the corners was still a feature of the race...Jerez & Catalunya being 2 circuits where Rossi & Capirossi were smokin the rear....not sure if the TC systems had more flexibility or they were simply flicked off....

When all's said and done, most of the racing this year has been crap, yes there have been a couple of good rounds. Whoopee do.

What will it be like in the next couple of years, probably as bad as F1.

Rossi has said that it's all down to the new tyre rules, having a limited supply and no chance to change tyre types during the weekend. Coupled with the new bikes it's all gone screwy for some. Stoner is riding superbly though, you only have to see how far back Capirossi is in each race to see that, but if they allowed the tyre manufacturers to build and supply new tyres overnight like they used to the racing would be a lot closer.

I think Rossi said he wouldn't expect this year to be any different in results or championship if they old tyres rules were back because Stoner has got everything right and is on a different planet this year, think of where the other Ducati's have been this year. Just that the racing would have been closer and tighter like it used to be. Think of a Rossi dominated year that still had close racing and it would be the same this year only with Stoner coming out on top.

True, but I think that is partly Rossi's mentality. He could have cleared off at any point (see Philip Island with the Yellow flag overtaking incident) but he doesn't as I think it bores him to run away with victories. He waits until near the end then pulls the pin. Stoner is more similar to Doohan. Win by as much as you can and screw the entertainment value (this isn't a criticism of Stoner or Doohan by the way).

Stoner and Ducati deserve the Championship this year, but I dunno, the racing is so dull, I don't give a rat's arse who wins, just want to see close racing.

Not so sure, It hasn't been this boring since the Doohan years. Wasn't much of a spectator sport. Yes, Stoner has a talent, yes, he has the ultimate package, yes he deserves the title. Talk of other Dukes, well Capirossi's head is elsewhere. Question for you; How do you think Stoner would be faring with Rossi's package? Second in championship? I seem to doubt it.
