Bennetts: insurance quote shock!

Bennetts may be cheap but they are a complete bunch of f*ckwits, just wait until you want to change anything on the policy - that'll be another £25 per change Sir. If you have to claim you end up speaking to another group of people who appear to have the job of making you pi*s off and not claim.
If you're doubly unfortunate you''ll have your policy with Zenith or GHL - same people really and they are even worse, try getting a payout.
I will happily pay 50% more to get Norwich Union or some other even half respectable insurance cover - never use Bennetts again, ever.
Or you could try MCE - £30 to change any details (£60 spent last year as I changed address twice due to moving house). When renewal time comes make sure you check your details (coz it's your responsibility to do so) to make sure some bright spark hasn't 'lost' your list of modifications & added a ground anchor as a security device so as to get your quote down to something similar to the previous year.If you're doubly unfortunate you''ll have your policy with Zenith or GHL - same people really and they are even worse, try getting a payout.

OK - so I just about resolved this mess, but it just goes to show etc....
Spec-flipping-tacular! After mucho rummaging around the 'net I couldn't better Bennetts price no matter how I tried.
So I went back to their online quote system and fannied around with mileage, value etc... and I may have hit on something worth noting.
In the drop-down list for Bike Model there are two entries for the ST1300; one is 2001-on and the other 2002-on. For some bizarre reason the later one knocks another 15 quid off the price! I noticed that when the quote came back it had switched from AXA to Highway as the insurers... so maybe the various companies call the same bike something different and do the calculation based on different statistics/odds/wind direction.
Who cares: for an '03 ST1300 valued at £6500, f/comp, SD&P plus commuting for 10K miles, compulsory excess DROPPED to £250, no voluntary excess... £111.04!
Ker-ching.
